Even in a low fee environment, I think it can be much longer than 2sec. There is latency sending msgs between miners<>pool.
I heard wiz and others saying getblockemplate itself was taking >1min on default node configurations in recent fee environment. It runs fast on my MacBook, but haven’t tested my RasPi 🤔

Mined just seconds after the prev block, both by Antpool. This just happens unfortunately.
If it happens significantly more on some pools than others (proportionally to their share of hashrate), it could indicate inefficiencies in the pool software, inefficiencies in their Bitcoin node configuration, OR a ‘selfish mining’ strategy… but it’s near impossible to prove the latter.
This phenomena is impossible to avoid completely afaik

ETL app for LND coming along nicely… this is my first attempt at a real application, coming from data wrangling scripts/notebooks.
Support and configs for:
- lndmon endpoints
- timeseries resolution & query range
- data processing
- write to local disk, S3 bucket
- write to csv, json, parquet
- partition by filetype, timestamp
TODO before publishing:
- lndmon, AWS creds
- datatypes / Pydantic
- logging
- basic unit tests
Phase 2 is to do the same for the Mempool API so you can automate extracting all the data from your Bitcoin and LND nodes… possibly bundled into one packag. 🤙

Very nice, thanks for the explanation. I think I heard Phantom Channels come out of one of the LDK projects. It might be that it’s the same as zero conf.
Personally I hate the term “zero conf” because it reminds me of BCashers and, more recently, RBF disrespectors 😂😭

Working on an ETL microservice for Bitcoin (via self-hosted Mempool api), and LND (via self-hosted lndmon api).
The end goal is a background service where you configure your Mempool and/or lndmon server urls, point it to your data storage (local or remote), and it continuously writes cleaned data for analysis. Lots of additional configurations for timeseries resolution, limiting endpoints, logging, etc.
First application is for extracting data remotely, but I’m hoping to get it to a point where it can be packaged for node-in-a-box projects like #[0]
