A big chunk of code commits is currently done by Collabora developers, but not all, and there are many other things in a project (like QA, translations, documentation, design etc.) which are done by hundreds of people also outside of Collabora. And TDF is taking on new developers. So don't worry, LibreOffice will not only be developed further, but a lot of work is being done, even outside of the ecosystem!

Well yes, Linux distros usually include the Gtk/Qt integration too, so the old-looking VCL interface should hardly ever come up. That's why there's no need to update it. But yes, there is an argument that when the desktop integration package is missing, LibreOffice should alert the user (while showing the old-looking VCL interface).

Yes, the documentation needs improving. As mentioned, it's made by volunteers (like so many things in the LibreOffice project) and without knowing who told you it is "perfect" it's hard to fix the situation. Of course it is! It's a great solution for businesses and large organisations, and we strongly recommend it for anyone who needs long-term support and custom features. But we (The Document Foundation) get a lot of requests from users, organisations and others to provide an online version too – at least the core technology of it – and we want to be active in this area as well.

Why would you say this is a "1990s" design, when office suites didn't have tabbed interfaces in the 1990s? Also, saying we "don't care" is really unfair to the hard-working volunteers who do so much to give the whole world a free office suite. They do all they can, with extremely limited resources, in their spare time, and then people on social media say they "don't care". Very demoralising for them.

We don't deliberately "make things hard". We are a community open source project with limited resources. Some people want workflows as they've always been – some people want things to be massively simplified. We try to cater for all users but have our limits. Please consider helping the volunteers that give you a free office suite, to improve the features and documentation you use. Thank you!

Without details (LibreOffice version, macOS version, exact error message(s) etc.) it's hard to say. Maria, are you saying you were working on LibreOffice files normally before, and then after a macOS update, LibreOffice is now saying the .odt files are corrupt?

#LibreOffice 25.8.1, the first minor release of the free office suite for personal productivity, is available at https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ for Windows, MacOS and Linux. Almost 100 bugs have been solved, including the UI related crash.

Hi! It's hard to say, without more details (LibreOffice version, operating system, spreadsheet file format etc. – all could have a potential impact). You can try asking the wider community on https://ask.libreoffice.org and see if anyone can reproduce or has a fix!
