I added a "deliver via RSS" as an option, just to see if anyone would actually use it (via buttondown). It has slowly accumulated a number of folks, but I honestly don't know what to do when i hit the limit with my provider because i don't want to pay to deliver to people when i have no monetization ha

i kinda said this, but i really do believe it: arguing for customer benefits is so much harder than arguing organizational benefits.
when you have a leader who hears an argument on behalf of customers and immediately gets it — “yeah, let’s do it” — that’s such a different place to be than a leader who hears an argument on behalf of customers and asks for proof — “show me the data”

I've felt this desire to migrate all my personal sites off of relying on 3rd-party CI and to, instead, make all "build" steps happen on my laptop. Then merely push the resulting files to my host (Netlify).

Alex makes a good point:
If we gave HTML buttons the ability to POST, PUT, DELETE, etc., that might encourage folks who don't really care about semantic HTML to actually use semantic HTML, because now you can do something with a <button> that you can't do with a <div>.
Sure you can still make clicking on a <div> do a PUT on click with some JS, but you know what would be even easier than wiring that all up? <button method="PUT">

Your full time job is continually use the product and fix (small) broken things.
If anybody finds something broken, they file a bug and put it in your backlog. Then you just chew through it (+ things you find).
Given how broken so many UIs are, it feels like if you kept a running log of every single fix you made, you’d easily justify your position…
And don't even dare ask me how small UI fixes improve the bottom line. This is for human sanity.

I love tools like Netlify and deploying my small personal sites with `git push`
But i'm not gonna lie, 2025 might be the year I go back to just doing builds locally and pushing the deploys from my computer.
I'm sick of devops'ing stupid stuff because builds work on my machine and I have to spend that extra bit of time to ensure they also work on remote linux computers.
Not sure I need the infrastructure of giant teams working together for making a small personal website.

i probably should've been more clear when i spouted off my opinions ha, but I do think a mere “~15 min read" info tidbit in the byline is _way_ better than some widget that tracks me down the page counting down the time.
but for me personally, i would still rather see word count than reading time. maybe it's because seeing "reading time" has always made me feel like an inferior reader because I never get it read in the time stated ha.
