I am currently rethinking freefree.ps and its future as a Mastodon server.
Operating this server has become expensive, and moderation puts me into a (small) position of authority that I do not want.
I am starting to think that I could better support Palestinians as a regular user on a larger server.

Last week I installed a Bluesky Personal Data Server on a VPS and made an account.
Having a PDS on Bluesky gave me a different domain for my handle than the default, but you can do that anyways without a PDS.
Unlike having a Mastodon server, a PDS on Bluesky has no rules, no moderation, no trends, no space for community to happen. It felt like I was hosting a black box on my own server for no reason.
So I deleted my account and also the PDS.

Here is my tatreez progress, I finally finished a piece. This is basically the Bateekh / Watermelon / بطيخ motif but I only used two colours because I'm a beginner.

I just returned from the Imagining Liberation event in #LdnOnt.
All the the stories were difficult to hear, a common theme was resilience.
Hazem Balousha, a journalist from Gaza, spoke about how people there feel abandoned, like nobody cares. Money is important, but also knowing that we do care, hearing words of support, & seeing crowds at protests really helps Palestinians in dark places. This resonated with me.

Does this mean that you should use a link shortener? No! Link shorteners obscure the true destination and make for some really risky clicks.
One thing to remove from any URL are stuff like UTM and "fbclid" parameters. "Facebook Click Identifier", yuck!

I think the world would be a better place if we all read Ursula K. Le Guin when we were little. Or at least I know I would have benefited from being exposed to her much earlier.
A Wizard of Earthsea, The Dispossessed, The Left Hand of Darkness, Rocannon's World (in which she coined the word "#ansible"). Any book by Le Guin is worth reading. She is my favourite author of all time.
