I have a theory that 3 ply thinking from chess can for the basis of a moral/ethic. That is, before we act, it is moral to ask ourselves what are the likely consequences of our action, and consider what we would then do in response to those consequences. Only when we are satisfied that the resulting status would be good or beneficial or at the least neutral and non harming should we proceed to act. If we are to miss a detail and this invalidates our evaluation, them this is a chance to learn, not a moral failing per se. But if we act in the world "hoping it'll be ok" and not considering likely consequences, or we may even notice consequences but not formulate an idea to respond, or we formulate an idea but don't bother to test it with an evaluation, and ask ourselves the hard question of "is that an acceptable outcome", then that is a moral failing. 5 ply or more thinking is genius, and is to be appreciated but not demanded or expected. But 1 ply thinking is a moral failing, and good moral instruction will seek to train and discipline students away from such naive reasoning. #chess

How does this differ from OpenClaw? I like that OpenClaw runs on a dedicated machine so it's kind of sandboxed. I think anything you can do in Claude Cowork you can do with OpenClaw + GPT5.6 or another model on the backend. But am I missing some advantage to running this on a daily driver laptop?

Mass immigration is ramping up (and becoming very visible across the nation), the social contract is breaking down (success of populist parties like Sanseito in recent elections), inflation is rampant. Also defense spending is ramping up. Almost the opposite of your takes. Most of this has *really* accelerated post COVID and therefore very recent but Japan is at the suddenly phase and the change is breakneck fast.

My thesis on Japan's decline:
My thesis is that Japan was a major world power prior to it's defeat in WW2. It had a young, energetic population, and was able to dominate Asia. The Japanese empire, drawn in green on a map, at its greatest extent, was actually comparable to any great empire from history, in terms of land mass and population under its control. Like Ancient Israel, Japan also had a very tight, insular population, with a very strong identity, a very strong concept of "in group / out group", and a very strong, ethocentric religion based around the idea of the emperor as descended from the sun god. But just like the Roman destruction of the Temple in 70AD was a psychologically devastating blow from which the nation of ancient Israel would ultimately never recover, the American dropping of the atomic bomb (similar in merciless violence) and forced concession on the Japanese that they needed to admit their emperor was mortal and a figurehead (similar in theological significance to "God allowing the temple to be destroyed"), took the soul from the Japanese in the same way the Ancient Israelites were left without their identity in 70AD.
The Japanese carried on for a while, based on their momentum. They were able to even raise to economic superpower to the extent people were talking about them taking over the role of the US as number 1. But the US knew they had Japan where they wanted them. The military base in Okinawa, for example. The "JET Program". Which was probably put in place as a result of American intelligence influence and allowed American graduates to live in Japan and study their ways. And, more than anything, the petrodollar, which meant that Japan's surplus was cycled back into US treasuries, as national and fuel security required access to dollars, but which was effectively a mafia-protection-racket like system of tribute.
The Japanese got to work 16 hour days making cheap electronics for the Americans. The Americans got cheap good to keep a lid on inflation at home, while the Japanese bought treasuries and funded the US government's deficit. Meanwhile the Japanese, suffering probably from Stockholm Syndrome, got to lie to themselves that they were benefitting from this, and that they might even someday rule economically. (Maybe the Japanese elites knew what was going on, but they were happy to go along, turning their citizenry into slaves for the American economic machine, while benefiting from their own Seigniorage grift).
Now, over 70 years later, the chickens are coming home to roost. The Japanese nation has been drained of its vitality since the war. The Americans have sucked the body dry. Japanese cannot afford to have kids. They are facing demographic death. They are importing third world labor as a result, and can look forward to a gradual erosion of the social contract and social harmony as a result, a la Europe. They are selling the family jewels—finally capitulating to American capital. Blackstone buying up real estate, for example. Or Buffet buying up the trading companies.
Japan is turning into another quasi colony cheap Asian travel destination. Its peers are now the likes of Thailand. They are building luxury resorts for Americans, Europeans, and Chinese, while their domestic population suffers under the weight of inflation. It used to be Japan was expensive and only accessible to the rich from the west, but now, with the cheap JPY, and the large income disparity, the average (or quite below average) American is able to fly to Japan and live large—buying up the food and resources and real estate while incentivizing prostitution of culture to creepy voyeurs desperately seeking the authenticity which hasn't existed in their globohomo homo economicus societies for decades.

If you think about it agriculture was a terrible idea. All it did was allowed for first movers to raise armies, which they needed to defend the crops. Then of course the prisoner's dilemma as you and neighbouring states now have standing armies. So warfare and empire building become inevitable. And then you need to innovate to stay top dog. Rinse and repeat, and here we are with thinking machines. Do you think we can go back to hunting and gathering? I think we'd be happier that way, but what if the Chinese elected to keep their city states and farms? Also, if you think about it from a Christian perspective it was too late the moment of the fall. Too late to save ourselves, I mean. Best to pray for God's grace at this point. We very much need it.

These efforts by Chinese to keep up with US AI development will be assisted by Chinese AI itself which will be increasingly be deployed to steal, copy, study, replicate US achievements.
At some point (maybe we are even there now) it's Chinese AI vs US AI and the humans are sidelined.
Then it's about, what, electrical power? Chips?
I suppose this is where SpaceX comes in, and the stuff Elon is talking about harnessing the power of the sun with power generation in space.

But what if Amethyst had an "app store" in it and someone was able to develop a chess feature and distribute it from within Amethyst? Is that something you have considered? Thanks. I did end up going down this route but in my case Open Claw managed to bork itself so I've gone back to Claude for now. (It did connect to Maple, but the performance was subpar with some weird formatting / syntax issues showing up in the chat. Then it could 't go back to Claude and I had to mess around a lot to get the model changed back eventually). Not only that but in my experience the cheaper Claude models are too limited so I am using their upper models and getting killed by API fees.

Laser would like to get your opinion on this which I've been going down the rabbit hole on. Basically I see it's obvious that Zionist interests have been running a psyop (The Scofield Bible etc) to coopt Christendom (especially American, Evangelical Christianity) to support Zionist policy, based on the manufactured theology that says God has two plans, one for Jews, one for Christians, which we know as dispensationalism.
But what I am starting to see is that this goes back longer than I had thought, and now I see it seems connected to the Reformation and the Glorious Revolution in England.

So my concern is, how compromised is Christendom? I had been worried mainly about liberal Christians and Pentecostals, but is Protestantism writ large compromised? And if so, what is to be done?

Thanks for bringing attention to this interview Peter. I agree with your take that it's an iconic one and a watershed one for our times. I watched the full interview and thought Fuentes was hilarious but also that he spoke the truth while Morgan could only parrot the received narrative and try to hit Fuentes with low blows. The post war consensus is done. A new age is upon us. That's not necessarily "good" or "bad" but it most certainly "is" imo

The point is that faith in Christ renews your mind and gives you a new outlook on life/ the meaning of life which is hopeful and breaks the doom loop of existential angst and resentment. This in turns strengthens your mind/ spirit such that you are able to overcome self harming behavior which previously you seccumbed to because you were cynical and self-hating.

I'm a bit fed up with the cope. Bitcoin's true USP is self custody outside of the regulated financial system and the ETFs were a wrong turn. We might just be decades early. I think Bitcoin is still the best simply because there is no better alternative. Gold is great until you get 6102d. But if the rest of the world doesn't get it then Bitcoin could underperform other financial assets for years. There's no guarantees around short to medium term price appreciation. Black swans like a hot war between the US and China could put back adoption decades. Or speed it up. But a paper wrapper around Bitcoin custodied in the tradition financial system. Really? It's been great for OGs enjoying their "Bitcoin IPO moment" and trading their corn for, what? Fiat? Probably they are buying property and other assets. Probably buying plan B and C houses in different jurisdictions if they're smart. But many of them are probably fed up with all the drama and are just happy to take the blue pill and live in comfort with a paid off house, car, dividend paying stocks, and some global travel. Can't blame them really. But all this cope from Bitcoiners is depressing. There's people on my timeline pretending they are looking forward to the return of the "58k gang". Really? The happy mask covering a crying face meme was made for these people. Well I hope Odell/Mallers, etc., are right and Bitcoin is still the apex asset and the true signal from the world's last free market. But nothing would surprise me at this point. The world is insane.

It was always an abomination that was against scripture. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Christ is Lord. Saying "multiculturalism has failed" does not imply that different "races" can't live side by side. There is neither Jew not Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, you are all one in Jesus Christ. The failure was allowing heathens to dominate Christians. The French Revolution has a lot to answer for. Our ruling class and especially our "intelligentsia" have a lot to answer for. The Scopes Trial and 20th century America has a lot to answer for. The UN and EU and other transnational satanic groups have much to answer for. The failure of Christendom to police our own ranks and to keep a lid on infiltration by leftist degenerates has a lot to answer for. We need to get genuine, muscular Christianity back. We need to consign the social gospel Psy op "Christ was just a hippy who wanted democracy and social justice" to the dustbin of history. We need to re-engage with scripture and the body of historical theology within the church to remind ourselves of what is really asked as us as followers of Christ. We need to act like our souls and eternal life depends on it because they do. We need to call out the enemies of Christ without fear of being slurred and slandered. I think there are many Japanese individuals like yourself who educate themselves about English, the world, and information technology. The regular Japanese is hardworking, smart, resourceful, honest, and creative. The failure is with the LDP and Japan Inc. The elites in Japan seem to think they graduate Todai and live happily ever after. I see a lot of arrogance among the elite classes who are shielded from much of the decay of Japanese society and seem blissfully unaware of the threats. Dealing with the government and corporate Japan and their antiquated, proprietary, and insecure IT systems is a daily frustration. Tourists are a menace and lower the quality of life for all living in Japan. But corporate Japan doesn't make things foreigners want to buy anymore so this is the only way we can earn dollars to buy our food and energy security. The one thing we have is a peaceful, stable society, but if we import millions of young men from the third world can we not expect the same kind of problems experienced by the Europeans?

Was due to report on it again this week but we had to cut it for time. Discussions are being reported in the Nikkei and looks like we'll get 20% next year. There will be a give and take but their focus seems to be on regulating the exchanges around insider trading and disclosure so it's very "Web3" focussed which is revealing of how out of touch the Japanese regulators still are. Fingers crossed there is no nonsense like restrictions on self custody or else registering public keys with the authorities etc.

Absolutely. Where did this idea that "God is love" and "all you need is love" come from? I'm guessing Liberal Christianity and the "Social Gospel". Even if you only read the New Testament it's clear that the consequences of sin are dire. And general revelation in nature shows us the world is brutal. Thank God for salvation through faith in Christ alone. And completely underserved to boot. Eternal life and salvation as a free gift! Loving to the elect for sure, but for those not called by grace.... well that is humbling and awe inspiring to consider....
