i don't buy this for a second. the issue is not laptops and tablets it's parents throwing ipads in front of kids with fruit sensory videos on permanent loop or whatever instead of anything useful. the computer opened doors to me that i didn't know were possible.
there's multiple studies cited that say that comprehension is harmed by screen vs. paper but i also call bullshit on this. there must be an underlying variable. the mediums are not 1:1, and deliberately failing to utilize the strengths of each medium would be the most likely culprit as to why it performs worse.
