With the market moving up more today, I'm liking this trade less so I closed 3 of the lower 4 calendars to make one double calendar at much lower risk. I may end up closing this as well, but this one will be easier to get out of as it's balanced.

This video covers another 2 week stretch because the first week I didn't do much but the one trade I did do turned out well. I did make one unforced error, I put on a trade without remembering the news and that trade didn't work out because I put it on 1 day too early. Good lesson. Situational awareness matters but just as important is how I managed it and kept the loss reasonable which is the key to successful trading. I know it’s been forever and a day but I did find some time to set it up today. Works pretty well. Set up uptime kuma just to test it. The more apps you can get for it, the better. I love the idea of having an option other then cloudiron for this kind of stuff.

That’s an interesting definition of “win” and certainly your choice to make. I would argue that in this theoretical scenario you didn’t win personally. The best thing that could come of it is that it becomes a spark for change.
Yes, VA has gone the way of CA. This is what happens when you put the left in charge.…every single time. The bigger question is just how outnumbered you are. That will determine if it can be reversed or not.
Your best chance is to not live in northern VA. Those locals won’t stand up for you. Southern and western VA are quite different. There are communities there that would do so and local governments that have a much higher chance of ignoring the communists in Richmond.

In theory, yes. That theory will eventually be tested in a big way. You, as an individual, do not stand a chance to defend it yourself (and survive). A big enough group? Yes. We saw this most recently with Cliven Bundy and grazing fees. Not 2A directly but guns were involved in holding off the government which ultimately decoded it wasn’t worth a shoot out over fees on land no one else was using. But it took a group, not an individual. To bring it back to the main topic that is the current interpretation of the militia clause of the 2A. People have the right to form militias …apart from the government which requires an individual right to bear arms. The founders understood this. One person isn’t going to stand off the government. But that interpretation is likely 2 SCOTUS justices away from changing at which point it will be up the real people to assert that right if the government won’t defend it.

I say this as a 2A supporter.
ALL rights are, in some way, imaginary in that we made them up. What makes them real is that we are willing to defend them, even die for them. We invented the bill of rights. But if we don’t defend them they are just words on paper with no more force than a letter to Santa Claus. Laws are the same thing.
The idea that rights come from God or nature is a nice ideal but in the real world they come from the ability and will to enforce them at all costs. This idea leads to a lot of uncomfortable discussions if folks really dig into the topic.

Agreed. Anonymity is very important. Embedding your identity into an OS can lead to massive privacy issues if not now…eventually.
This is why open source matters so much. As long as I can download an OS for free stuff like this becomes very hard to enforce.

I closed the butterflies I put on yesterday for, basically, break even. I could have stayed and waited it out, but I'd rather just move on, put on something new next week and not take the weekend risk. But it would have been ok to leave it on...it wasn't in bad shape, I just didn't feel like dealing with it. My trades are cattle, not pets.

Yeah, it's not the most convenient way to do it...I have to download the code it gives me via the web browser...but it's generating code.
I may end up buying a pro license, only because I'm playing with it more and the limits are becoming a thing. But we'll see. But just to get your feet wet, the free tier is pretty good.

I’ve been playing with Claude quite a bit lately…pretty impressive. Still getting by on the free tier but I can see how they get folks to pay.
it will be interesting if they can actually make money. It’s going to be tough competing with the likes of Google and Microsoft who can subsidize their engines with large profits from other divisions. I could easily see them getting bought out by someone like IBM, Oracle, or even Dell. I don’t see any of those as good for the product but good for the investors.

My calendars from Thursday closed today for a bit over 8%. Even with the wide swings this morning, the trade never got into trouble. The IV spike kept the trade in a good position, then the rise helped close it. A roller coaster to be sure, but it was quite resilient.

I don’t think that’s the point. If you aren’t a citizen you should have to show your legal residency status. With all of the KYC requirements to open a bank account in the US, I’m shocked this isn’t already happening.

It’s only been since the 80s that skaters (i.e. not goalies) have been required to wear helmets. And whenever they implement a rule like that it’s only for new players, the rest are grandfathered. Rod Langway was the last player in the NHL to play without a helmet.
It’s a cultural thing in the NHL. Serious head injuries aren’t as common as other collision sports with the current helmet s most are cuts, bruises, nose breaks and, of course, the stereotypical front teeth.
Besides, how do you punch a guy in the jaw if there’s a cage there? That’s why goalie fights are rare and kind of funny.

I think so. Alex is all aboard the nostr train these days. Sad as I still run it on my instance. Not sure how easy it would be to move to another project without losing everything. Maybe Pleroma since the backend codebases are similar?

TV? Who said you need that? Do you have a screen? That’s all you need. What’s a TV these days anyway? It just a screen with HDMI ports...Nothing special. But you don’t even need a monitor.
The antenna runs into a box that streams to any device on your network. There are a ton of them out there. Some can even use your plex server to control it or the box will have an app to do it.
I’m using HDHomeRun but there are lots of them out there. If done correctly it should cost 3-figures. Cheap compared to most services in terms of payback.
It won’t get you everything. But the big ones tend to be there. But even if you only use it a couple times a year, it still works.
The alternative is to buy one month of, say, Sling then cancel. Grab a new email address to get the ”new customer“ discount. I’ve done this as well for stuff like ESPN when my hockey team made it past the first round of the playoffs.

This is where OTAs are good. Set up once, no monthly fees so even if you only use it a few times a year it’s ok.
And the AFC game kind of sucked, IMO. Neither team played well and the weather was …Colorado in January. One of those games where it’s tough to see the field.
But as one who doesn’t pay for cable/satellite TV services…the one time 3-figure cost of an OTA setup is worth it.

Most minorities protect their trash because they need numbers and they don‘t want to alienate anyone and reduce their numbers. Majorities can afford to throw out their bottom quarter.
This isn’t just a black thing although you see it more with them in the US as they are a large minority group here.
You see this in legislative bodies. It’s easier for minority parties to stay unified. But if they get a majority, the cracks start to appear.

With the move up this morning, I closed one of the lower side calendars to cut my deltas.

As we come into the close, I rolled one diagonal down the put calendars, and sold off another call diagonal. This flattened my deltas, lowered my vega, and kept my theta pretty much flat.
On to the CPI tomorrow.

I rolled the last 2 shorts down 5 points making a standard diagonal. This cuts my position deltas. I'm ready to add a structure on the downside if needed, but not quite yet.

I took off my Dec19/23 calendars for about 4.5% The trade was in good shape but I've got a lot on my plate today and just wanted to get this done before the FOMC later today. Trading has to fit your life. Plus, December has been really good say far so taking less on this one isn't a big deal.

What adoption? Crypto hasn’t has wide spread adoption as any kind of currency. The number of transactions are insignificant compared to national currencies.
The world isn’t going to standardize on a single currency of any kind. I’m sorry, it just won’t. Most people need centralized systems because they aren’t responsible enough to really run things on their own and they don’t want to even if they could. Do you honestly think that a system that relies on people properly storing and protecting their keys is sustainable?
Lots of good ideas don’t scale. Remember when they were trying to get everyone to wear masks to stop the spread of COVID? That was doomed. Can masks work? Yes, they work in hospitals. Why? Because you have a very small number of well trained professionals using them. But that system doesn’t scale to the general public. Crypto is similar. Could it work within a small community of enthusiasts who really understand it? Sure. But that system won’t scale.
I absolutely get the idea of a decentralized private financial system. I appreciate the ideas and motivations behind it. But I also live in the real world and know that such a system won’t scale to tens of millions yet alone billions of people.
Another great example is where we are right now…the Fediverse. I love and appreciate the concept. I run my own instances. I get it. It makes sense to me. I also know that mass adoption isn’t going to happen. Most people don‘t care enough to be here. They like the simplicity of the centralized services even though they are literally the product. Such is the way of the world.
Look, you can buy all the BCH you want and I sincerely hope it goes up and you make solid gains from it. But it is absolutely not going to get widespread adoption to come close to being a true alternative to national currencies, yet alone become the single global currency. I think I’ve made a very solid case that has not been refuted with any actual evidence…just “it will someday…”.

Europe has tried to unite behind a single currency…it hasn’t gone well. The member states‘ economies are too different…and that’s just Europe. You are claiming you can do the worldwide? Because the US should use the same currency as Cambodia and Zimbabwe? That is pure delusion. Sometimes things haven’t been done for a reason.
Doing what everything all other coins do is not a reason to adopt it. You need more than that. Otherwise there’s no reason to change.
