@nprofile…w0mx I'd need to see if I still have some Australian stats but from memory talk stations like ABC Brisbane had a far smaller time spent listening than music stations like MMM. I suspect some of this was the difference between people just turning on to hear some news, compared to people who might leave it on as background music across the day.

@nprofile…w0mx As part of a previous job, I travelled to many of these remote places and, as a result, listened to much of the on-air content. Many of them are far smaller than Mt Newman, and according to their license, a single FM frequency is supposed to rebroadcast the local ABC radio station for that region.
What I found was something very different and depended mostly on the person designated to run the operation. Apart from re-broadcasting whatever they could pull off the satellite, I remember one location that played their latest Country Music CD between 8am and 9am.

@nprofile…w0mx I'm loving the few IKEA matter devices I have. Read about lots of people having issues with them but haven't had a problem. My favourite is the Alpstuga air quality sensor as apart from the obvious, since it's plugged into power also works as an extra thread router.

@nprofile…j90y I'm at about 5500kms on my road trip and have been amazed at how much of the country gets little or no radio reception. There's also about a thousand KMS between Ceduna and Norseman where there was no mobile reception. I used the seek button on the radio a lot

@nprofile…j90y I've moved to a time of use tarrif with Red Energy. I moved mainly because I found our biggest cost were the daily charges. We basically were paying $70-$100 a month for electricity and $70-$80 a month in daily charges. Our feed-in was earning $40-$50 a month

@nprofile…j90y They actually do have RSS feeds, they just don't publicise them, or link to them (grrr). The feeds follow the format of https://www.abc.net.au/news/feed/[collection ID]/rss.xml.
Finding the collection ID is the hard part but for example Qld top stories on the ABC home page is coremedia://collection/5555988 so the rss feed is https://www.abc.net.au/news/feed/5555988/rss.xml

@nprofile…j90y Thats provably untrue. For example if you go to https://reception.abc.net.au/ and look at Cairns you will find them broadcasting on two AM transmitters and two FM transmitters.
All up the local station there broadcasts on about nine transmitters, most of them FM transmitters
