I remember helping my (very tech illiterate) dad with something once, we spent 30 minutes on the smallest thing.
It says I have to enter an email, my email? What's my email? Why do they need my email? Can't I give them yours? What if I forgot my email?
Its asking me for my password, should I put it? Why is it asking me for my password again? Why is my password not showing when I type it. It says the password is too short, what does that mean. Why does it need a capital letter? Is Paris ok? (I swear this was a real question).
That aside, I think tech peaked in the windows XP era from a ux perspective. Everything after has been terrible

Being g atheist and a scientist is not logical.
Science depends on the intelligibility of the universe, which requires a rational foundation that atheism cannot provide.
Science properly understood is doxological. It is an act of worship that reveals the Creator's wisdom through investigation of His handiwork.
It unites understanding AND practical application, but grounds both in serving the true purpose of creation: communion with God and proper relationship with the created order.
Human benefit naturally follows from this proper ordering, but as a consequence rather than the foundation.
But perhaps that's an argument for another time.

Science needs a purpose. The purpose of science has always been to understand the natural world to get closer to God and His Creation.
I love science, I didn't spend 6 years of my life reading physics for fun before getting a real job for no reason. I loved it. Can't say that the degree was useful (toilet paper would've been more useful), but I can't say that I didn't enjoy it.
I think there's incredible value in science, and I think that anything that improves our understanding of how the world works is a worthwhile pursuit no matter the material cost.
But this? I can't agree to this on a moral basis. There's a quote, that I usually disagree with, but fits here: "they were so preoccupied with figuring out if they could, than thinking if they should"

See this is what I'm saying about ai writing, it's bad.
My writing is bad too, and I need 100 rewrites and lots of editing before it's in a publishable state (bonds of time is proof of that... the parts I publish here are first drafts, and they read like they are).
But this is pretty bad too, it's worse, it's just a mish mash of sci-fi tropes with nostr.

Fascinating. I also write technical documentation and of course reports, as well as actual novels, and I can spot LLM text from a mile away, and I do not like it.
Of course spell check has its uses, and as you said AI is good at proofreading, but it doesn't save time if you are actually honest about using it only to help you. It takes slightly longer in fact
