✅ Ride 14. 60-minute endurance. I pulled a couple of all nighters at the end of last week and was wrecked for the weekend. I did a partial ride on Sunday but did not count or post it because I only finished a third of the prescribed Over Under intervals. I was just too tired. Woke up today feeling refreshed and much stronger than last week, so I kept it steady for 60 minutes and focused on smooth cadence and consistent power. Small step forward.

✅ Ride 12. Active recovery. Kept it lighter than my usual endurance recovery today. HRV has been a little low the last few days, so the goal was simple movement and easy spinning. Nothing to chase, just giving the body room to settle and reset.
Oh, and TrainerRoad gave me a new Functional Threshold Power of 239w, a 16.6% increase from my starting point 12 days ago. It’s still a long way off from my peak 2025 numbers, but it reflects the progress I am making.

Appreciate the perspective. For me the inconsistency wasn’t blood sugar. It was stacking too many 100+ and 200+ mile rides without enough mid‑week structure to support them. Then work blew up for a stretch and I couldn’t normalize my schedule or get back to a reasonable mid‑week volume. That combination is what took me off track.

Looking back at last season — DNFs at The 508 and Hoodoo 500. The volume was there, but the consistency wasn’t, and it caught up to me. The funny thing is that when I was working through my season, I recognized the lack of consistency, but I was unable to break the cycle. The physical and mental fallout eventually took me off the bike altogether.
As rough as it was, it forced a reset I probably needed. A chance to rebuild the habits, the durability, and the mindset that actually carry you through the long days.
I may not be lining up for the big ultras this year, but I’m already looking toward 2027 with a clearer head and a better foundation. A better me.

Sure. Keep in mind that “no taxation without representation” was a Revolutionary War slogan used by the colonies to protest government by King George/ British Parliament. It is not Constitutional doctrine.
I suppose the justification goes something like this: Individuals who earn income in the U.S. benefit from the public infrastructure, regardless of their citizenship or voting status.
That’s why foreign nationals, whether here legally or illegally, minors, and others who don’t have voting rights are required to pay taxes.

I normally don’t like government-funded incentives, but I would potentially support a tax rebate on home mining operations to offset the high cost of electricity.
It would potentially make personal Bitcoin mining more affordable and also improve domestic decentralization of mining operations. 🤷‍♂️

Ride #4 was a tough indoor workout consisting of 6x2-minutes max-aerobic power repeats.
This was the most difficult session since I resumed cycling four days ago. Towards the end of the fifth interval, it feeling a little too intense, my heart rate hit 170bpm, I thought I was done-for, and I faltered with just 15 seconds to go. I stopped pedaling.
Fortunately, I quickly regained my spirit and got pedaling again, into the recovery period. Then, the final interval, and I was determined to keep going. Bam! 💥 Finished the session! 🥵🥵🥵
4 rides in 4 days, the chain is unbroken.

Finished a 1-hour indoor training session today. It was my first day back on the bike. It felt good to start putting my mental issues and the past behind me and focus on the road and challenges ahead.
I was a little taken aback that TrainerRoad’s AI has dropped my FTP down to 205—roughly half of what it was 6 months ago. Given my performance in this session, it seems a reasonably accurate estimation. I’ll do a ramp test in 4 weeks to see where I’m at.
Consistency is key. My biggest challenge is building new habits, one day at a time.
