I don't know it, hadn't even heard of it, so I can't tell him to switch (even though it can only be better than Google 😉)

Hoe meer mensen nu besluiten om de platforms van die smeerlap niet meer te gebruiken, hoe eerder ze beseffen dat er meer is dan WhatsApp. En dat het misschien helemaal niet zo'n ramp is om een tweede (of derde, of zelfs vierde) app te installeren.
Je hebt naast WhatsApp tenslotte ook al je SMS, waarschijnlijk je mail en ongetwijfeld nog een hele rits apps. Als je dan te besodemieterd bent om een nieuwe app te installeren om contact te houden, dan kan je er wat mij betreft inzakken hoor.
Jij kan niemand dwingen om ook op Signal te zijn, maar omgekeerd kan niemand jou dwingen om WhatsApp aan te houden.
Ik weet het, ik ben daar behoorlijk radicaal in. Maar ik bewijs tegelijk dat het prima kan. Ik heb al heel lang geen WhatsApp meer.

One way they break it, is by sucking in school children and students, by forcing them into Google Workplace and using Chromebooks.
Google analyses everybody's e-mail, even replacing URLs in it so they they will be routed through their systems. You must know about that if you've worked there, right?
As former employee you must be aware of what Chrome is, right? It's a tracking and advertising platform, dressed as a webbrowser.
