Heard about this one on the podcast Board Game Hot Takes, where they compared it to Forest Shuffle and it came out on top. Very easy to learn, but also lots of layers and depth to it. I’ve been remote camping this week, but bookended that with bike rides on Washington Island, Wisconsin. Managed to stumble across an art installation again that I’ve had trouble finding on purpose - hundreds of (nonfunctional, I think) clocks mounted on trees in the forest. It’s weird but delightful. The sender said it seems like there are fewer Pride flags out than in the past. So I hope they enjoy that we put up our Pride flag on Monday, after they mailed their card. Also, a great thing about being the people on the block with the progressive signs/flags is that people have sent really nice notes about it. While biking home from the farmers market, I saw what looked like a wallet on the street. We stopped & found the owner’s address on their drivers license. Fortunately they still live there so we were able to return it directly to them. This little gesture saved this person a huge amount of worry and work. Literally the only reason we go past this business is because of a protected bike lane. There’s no way we’d take this route without the bike lane and no way we’d stop here if we were in a car. I wish they had bike parking though! Tagged along and the bike lanes were in pretty good shape - glad we gave it a few extra days. His route to school has several protected bike lanes, which actually took longer to be clear than my on-street work route. Some patches of ice still, mostly clear. I am 100% a rules following person. Apparently, they don’t understand the degree of “not dealing with this shit” that this garbage provokes in a middle aged white lady. Police report filed. New flag pole (and a spare) purchased. Replacement flag (and a spare and some mini flags) ordered. Sign printed for our front gate. Creepy that someone did this? Yes. Allowing it to stop our right to speak out? But for the second time since we started this, today we got an incredibly nice note about how doing this helps others feel less alone. This wasn’t different enough in terms of mechanics to buy both the original Forest Shuffle and this new standalone game. These are a huge hit with pollinators and also provide habitat for gulf fritillary butterflies.
