Besides using a Nostr-based messenger and trying to message myself, is there any kind of 'pastebin' client that I could use on desktop AND on mobile to send text and links to myself and to have access to everything on all of my devices?
Sometimes, I just want to share a link or make a note and access it later on another device, but I don't necessarily want to publish it for the world to see. Having something semi-private would be nice.

Wouldn't the XMR-based software options fall into the same risk categories? I'm thinking Retoswap or the like.
If someone has to actively maintain them, then they're running a legal risk of being exchange operators, at least in the EU, right?

I'll be the first to admit that I use and abuse YouTube as a sort of search engine to research different topics, but I think this old note from BenniBTC is entirely correct. A lot of content could just be streamed audio and a PDF.
Instead of a PDF, a long-form note on Nostr would work too. Not being super well-informed about all of the different NIPs out there, I'm not sure if Nostr could handle the audio content too?
Alternatively, does anyone know how #Reticulum (and by extension #Nomadnet) would work for this type of model? #nevent1q…724w

I've seen several people mention the Vector chat app recently, so I finally downloaded it (in spite of the fact that I so rarely send messages on Nostr).
The interface is incredibly clean and easy to use.

I've heard both positive and negative feedback about the Ordinariate Use. For TLM purists, they still see it as "Novus Ordo-ized", but for most others, they still consider it a fairly traditional liturgy, which also happens to be in the vernacular, which is a win for many.
I have yet to see one in person but hope to do so someday soon!

I've been trying to use Olas on and off, but it never seems to work properly. Photos take forever to load. Old content gets stuck at the top of the feed. etc

There's any number of possible reasons. One may be the constant privacy wars going on, in a very public way, in Europe, Australia, and so on. Government overreach is definitely a concern.
Another might be worries about infrastructure collapse. Given natural disasters in recent years, energy crises, various wars around the globe, etc., there's every reason to be concerned that the mainstream telecoms networks could collapse or cease operations during a catastrophe of any kind.

I have known many fellow educators who use ChatGPT or Gemini to produce worksheets, quizzes, and so forth. That part is fairly standard. Heck, they can obviously even make minor tweaks to existing materials with relative ease. However, hallucinations are still a problem.
The other day, I met an IBDP physics instructor, who was specifically using Google's NotebookLM for his classes. While other AI tools worked for him, he found that NotebookLM was great for producing IBDP-like assessment questions. He would populate a dozen or more past paper questions of a particular type and then ask the AI to create a series of news questions, using the existing ones as the sole model. Because of the nature of NotebookLM, he found this to be the most accurate way to create new, but true-to-form IBDP-style quiz or test questions for his students.
I had to say that I was impressed. I normally had seen the students using this platform to query a given set of materials for answers for their homework or to study for upcoming exams. However, for the teachers to use it for generation of new assessment topics was brilliant in its own right. I was afraid that NotebookLM's own parameters wouldn't allow for extensive creativity, but that physics teacher swore by it.

Always interested in things obscure, I learned years ago about the Artsakh Republic and had wanted to visit. With the Azeri invasion of this historically Armenian territory in 2023, that dream fell by the wayside.
There was hope that peace could return to this land, but it seems that the Azeris are intent on erasing every last remnant of the Armenian presence there, which dates back centuries.
Today, I awoke to learn that Azeris are now in the process of demolishing a central church in Stepanakert. This is the kind of behavior of thugs and terrorists. While not directly correlated, it reminds me of the destruction of the Buddhas of Bamiyan over two decades ago now.
May God forgive them for these crimes they commit against the population and against history itself!

Reticulum definitely seems to have a learning curve, but I like that it's network agnostic. You can still connect into the mesh (if I can say it like this), using your laptop, a LoRa device, your existing WiFi infrastructure, etc.
That's why it really captured my attention.

That seems to be the general consensus, yes, due to the way messages are distributed across those networks.
Though, given that meshcore supposedly borrowed some concepts from #Reticulum, I'm personally curious to know how Reticulum will handle heavy urban usage. Alas, it hasn't caught on quite as well as the other two, so we may have to wait and see on that front.

I was on 1.0.0 but just updated to 1.0.5.
Obtainium tells me that there's a 1.0.6 version floating around out there, but I get into an 'update' loop where I 'update' but am stuck on 1.0.5.

It takes a bit of tinkering to get set up, but it's great fun after that. The one thing that I got stuck on was setting up the 'interfaces'. If you need some recommendations on the relays to connect to, drop me a line. I can share one or two that I'm using.

I've spent the last few days messing around with #Reticulum and have been surprised by the number of people building #Nomadnet sites.
Content is still sparse, but the individuals involved are freely broadcasting their own sites over the protocol without interference or ownership by anyone else.
I think this is something that Bitcoiners and so many others could and should get behind.

I finally got #Meshchat up and running. I basically was lacking the proper, public-facing interfaces necessary to find peers and to find Nomadnet sites.

I set up Sideband on an old Android phone, and it seemed to connect to peers by itself. I was able to look at the announcements and find others to connect to all over the planet.
