my GrapheneOS (Pixel 8) has started to randomly crash pretty hard. I thought it was from some experimental vibe coded app I tried so I uninstalled that and it seemed better for most of the day and now it just crashed again. where a lived in new orleans people had set up a pirate station that was up for a number of years, they would get a FCC guy who would show up and yell at them and threaten to fine them once a year so they would move the transmitter every time but I don't think they ever actually got the fine

What are your favorite alternative forms or structures for large complex systems? Foundations and Non-profits don't seem like they are working for us very well. What if there was a feature on the fediverse that when you followed someone that your server didn't know about, you could click a button that says something like, request full federation, and that would run a query to backfill them onto your home server. So you get the full history like that server had been following the account since the beginning. It could be scoped so the admin of the instance only allowed this ability to spesific people, and maybe it could enter a review mode first.

ActivityPub has no analogous feature to the Verification we are looking at here on Bluesky. If you are talking about Mastodon's implementation of rel="me" link verification this is not an part of ActivityPub this is Mastodon using the a microformat developed by the IndieWeb community and it really does a totally different thing then the Verified badge that Bluesky has. And any server in the fediverse can set up a rate limit, and I am sure many have *some* in place.
