Yes, happy to.
We view stablecoins as just another form of rails for moving fiat money. Like ACH or Wire. We can leverage any stablecoin rails and use Solana because it’s low-cost and fast. It also allows us to deliver the loan capital trustlessly via an atomic swap.
But just like other fiat payments rails, we don’t think the end user should have to be exposed to any of the complexity. So we don’t require users to hold any gas tokens, pay gas fees, etc. We abstract all of that away. And if a user wants to simply withdraw their dollar balance to their bank account instead, they can easily do that.

Moved sats from River -> Spark Wallet over LN.
Then sent sats to another Spark wallet over Spark (no inbound liquidity needed, just spun up an address).
Then moved sats from that wallet to my Primal Lightning wallet. And then topped up my eCash balance on minibits.
Pretty seamlessly. This level of interoperability is really impressive and is going to lead to some really cool stuff.

Some initial thoughts on Spark (the new L2 from Lightspark).
What I like:
- very fast and getting faster
- backwards compatible with Lightning
- self-custodial without liquidity management
- Lightspark is making it really easy to build with
- They’re not doing a token or any other bs
Other things to note:
- not very private. Transactions are public
- 1/n trust assumption for operators running the spark entity
- they’re bringing stablecoins onto the L2
Overall I’m not super keen on stablecoins on Bitcoin, but it was probably bound to happen regardless. This seems like a good solution for that.
More importantly, I think that the trust assumptions are solid for a payments layer on Bitcoin. You’re trading off the trustlessness of something like LN for a trust-minimized solution that offers self-custody without having to worry about inbound liquidity and such. I think that’s a trade off worth making, since you likely won’t (and shouldn’t) keep much of your stack on the L2. Given how many people are already using custodial LN wallets, this feels like a step in the right direction.
I’ve spoken directly to some of the people involved in Spark, and it’s clear they’re trying to make it as easy as possible for people to build on this stack. So I’m excited to see what comes of it.

There’s some debate on how you define a true L2, but I’d say Lightning is the only one that really qualifies. All the rest have very different trust tradeoffs.
Stacks is an affinity scam as far as I can tell.
Ark is promising (still in development) and probably has the best trade offs.
I also think Alpen (from Alpen Labs) and Spark (from Lightspark) are interesting.

Currently Nostr mostly looks like a Twitter clone with fewer users, less content, and weaker network effects.
The feature that really differentiates it is zaps. Censorship resistance and user control are amazing, but most users don’t care.
The more we can find creative ways to leverage native money within social media, the more we grow the network.
I’m convinced this is the killer feature of Nostr.

Over the past couple of years I converted 95% of my wardrobe to natural fiber materials.
Pretty much everything I wear is made from cotton, hemp, linen, wool, or leather.
Looks better, feels better, is more performant, and (unlike polyester clothing) doesn’t leach microplastics or disrupt your endocrine system.
When you start to research it, you’ll be shocked at just how bad plastic/polyester clothing is for your health.

One of the highest-leverage cooking skills is knowing how to use salt properly.
Ask any chef— salt is the single most important ingredient in cooking.
A few tips:
- Use a high-quality salt with a medium-fine grind for everyday cooking. Salt touches everything you eat, so it’s worth buying really good, clean stuff. In my opinion Vera Salt is the best out there. It’s what I use for all my cooking.
- Get a salt cellar (or just use a wide bowl). You want to keep lots of salt easily accessible right by your stove. It should be big enough that you can get your hand in there and grab a big pinch. Shakers and grinders don’t cut it.
- Measure salt by FEEL. Another reason why a salt cellar makes sense. Take note of how much salt you’re picking up and how it tastes on your food. Do this over and over again and you’ll be able to measure salt with the feel of your hands and then taste to adjust. This is a super important skill.
- Always salt in stages and always taste as you go. Salt takes time to permeate food; you can just salt all at the beginning or all at the end. Taste throughout the cooking process and adjust as needed. This will make sure your final dish is properly seasoned.

Big batch of bolognese. One of the best dishes to cook in bulk. Scales up easily if you’re cooking for a group and also freezes well for easy weeknight meals.
I love making this with ancestral blend beef or venison. The low and slow cooking process makes it super tender.

The more time I spend on Nostr, the more I think that having native money on the network is what’s going to unlock growth.
Having true free speech is amazing and important, but if we’re being honest most users don’t care about that. And for a lot of users, X under Musk is free enough.
But native money and micropayments is unique to Nostr and opens up use cases that can’t exist anywhere else. Unlocking more ways to leverage this is how we get more people on here.

Last year I taught myself decent conversational Italian fairly quickly before a trip to Italy. Inspired by @nprofile…cvv9 recently sharing Language Transfer, here are a few thoughts on what works and what doesn't.
1. Your goal should be to establish some baseline in the language using apps/tools, and then focus on just getting as much exposure as possible.
2. Spaced repetition is a superpower. It's by far the most effective way to acquire new vocabulary, so you should focus on apps/tools that make use of spaced repetition. It works with your brain to help you introduce new words/phrases and then actually remember them.
3. Studying formal grammar is mostly a waste of time. Your brain will naturally fill in/learn the grammar rules once you have enough exposure. Don't waste time trying to memorize them.
4. Look up Stephen Krashen and his theory of language acquisition via comprehensible input. He believes (correctly, I think) that humans all have a natural ability to acquire language, and it comes via comprehensible input. Meaning we need regular exposure to the language at a level that allows us to decipher meaning as we're exposed to it. If you do this enough, you *will* learn the language. This is how all of us learned our first language, and it's how people most effectively learn second languages.
5. Forget about Duolingo. It's basically a game larping as a language tool. It's not very effective.
Apps that do work:
- Pimsleur (30 minute daily audio lessons that make use of spaced repetition and are good for building a baseline)
- Language Transfer (an amazing free resource that builds on the famous Michel Thomas method with some improvements)
- Lingvist (great for learning tons of new vocab via spaced repetition)
- Memrise (also great for vocab)
- Clozemaster (once you've established some basic knowledge, this is a great gamified way to improve)
Use those regularly for a few months and you'll build up a solid foundation. Once you have that, focus entirely on getting tons of exposure with comprehensible input via books, TV, podcasts, etc. There are even some tools/books that are built around this concept specifically, and they're very effective.
And if you're really committed, go live somewhere that your intended language is spoken and do a full immersion. You'll be astounded at the progress you make.

The raw carrot salad popularized by Dr. Ray Peat is the real deal.
Helps detoxify the gut, improves digestion and hormonal health, and tastes amazing. I really feel better eating this several times per week.
Just shred raw carrots lengthwise using a peeler, then season with salt, vinegar, and either olive oil or coconut oil.

Braised meat should be a staple in everyone’s home cooking repertoire.
An easy, repeatable method that offers room for infinite customization.
Take any slow-cooking cut. Sear it on the outside, cover it with a braising liquid, and slow cook.
You can experiment with different braising liquids (water, broth, wine, dashi, etc) plus different additions to the braising liquid (tomatoes, chiles, etc), different cuts of meat, different aromatics and vegetables.
For this one I did beef shanks with beef broth, chojang, and ssamjang.

Easy everything sauce. Served this last night with ribeyes and green beans.
- 1 handful pistachios (any nut works here)
- 4-5 roasted red peppers (piquillo are my favorite)
- dash of smoked paprika
- pinch of salt
- splash of sherry vinegar
- enough olive oil to get a good texture
Add everything to a food processor or blender and blitz until you like the texture. Taste and adjust as needed with more salt, vinegar, and paprika.
Use on everything.

Dude it was amazing! I still cook from it. I’m still learning and getting better but Turkish continues to be one of my favorite cuisines to explore. Thanks again for that!

Thai-style crispy rice inspired by Persian tahdig.
Cooked white rice in coconut milk with a bunch of yellow curry paste. Once it had cooked and cooled slightly, I heated up a big pan with coconut oil, added the rice, pressed it down, and made some holes for steam to come through.
Cooked 5 min or so until it was nice and crispy on the outside.
Served that with a Thai steak salad— lettuce, carrot, cucumber, chiles, pickled shallots, fish sauce dressing, and peanuts. Plus a sambal aioli on the side.
Beautiful mix of textures and flavors.
