I posted the video of my mining setup earlier, and there may be some interest in more detail about the setup. First, I built the solar system to power my property with the idea of using excess power to run mining when feasible. If I go into all the details in one post, it will be pages of info. I built everything myself. I procured all the system components, designed the system, did all electrical, did the trenching, built the ground mount, engineered a mining automation solution that is predictive on current system state, weather state and forward looking on those as well…. Everything! If I hadn’t, it would have cost me $70,000-$80,000 for the solar alone without the mining setup. I didn’t pay that. My goal was to reduce my payback time on the up front costs as well as on the backend, and I’m estimating 10 years without mining and 6-7 years with ( much shorter if bitcoin keeps eating everything over the next 5 years ). Regardless, I’m not converting my bitcoin, and it will be held.

Am I missing something? The question of “will bitcoin 80x” in the next 15 years seems off base. If I take just the block subsidy in 2040 of 0.1953125 and make it revenue neutral to 16 billion in last year’s revenue, that gives me a bitcoin price of $1,560,000.00 in 15 years. Is that reasonable? I would think so.

Honest question and just trying to understand both sides. If bitcoin is the hardest form of money ever known to man, which I believe it is, why do you sell trading courses that encourage participation in the casino and thus support it? You guys keep saying, “You don’t understand,” but the only point you articulate is that fees MAY handle the problem of spam (large non-monetary data) on the network. Articulate your point and why I should absolutely believe that fees will choke out spam or point me somewhere they explain in detail exactly why trash data on the network is not a threat and how it will be mitigated moving forward. I believe you could be right, but if you can’t articulate that to us smooth brains, then I want a solution that absolutely takes care of the non-monetary data on the network.

I’ve listened to you and Marty for a while now and I appreciate some of the information I get from your podcasts. I think people are aggressive on this topic due to the fact that it’s not written in stone that bitcoin will always be the best money if something ignorant is allowed to happen. Do I have the answers? No. Does something feel off? Yes. Is anybody articulating in a very digestible manner why things were done? How about the precedence that BSV set by opening up op return code? The network was hammered when they did this. To me that is a legitimate concern, and I question why developers would take the same path. The blast radius from a $500 million network will pale in comparison to a $2 trillion+ network.

A non consensus soft fork happens, and I choose to run v29 because core shoved it down people’s throats. I have to stay on 29 yo dissent as more and more nodes adopt v30,31,32. Eventually 29 is not supported. What the hell do I do then?

Yeah, that makes sense. It’s just degrees of friction. I can have my company’s data centers built out in different regions and run my own hardware, middleware and software. It’s just a lot more difficult than someone coming up with a decentralized version of “Amazon” and me using that. Providers would sell excess hardware capacity to users like is done in Akash Network, which is not on bitcoin payment rails. Someone could possible take Akash open source solution, rip out the shitcoinery and use lightning or cashu payments…. Maybe.

Akash Network. Deploy Kubernetes apps on 50+ providers and you can fund with bitcoin. It’s not directly on bitcoin rails, but a hell of a lot better than Amazon. It’s open source, so nothing is preventing someone from forking and making bitcoin the native payment.

I’ll probably be called a shit coiner for this, but there are going to be a handful of projects out there that provide value beyond the bitcoin ecosystem. Could they be implemented atop bitcoin? Perhaps and they may be eventually. But Akash Network (on Cosmos) is decentralized cloud infrastructure that allows rapid deployment of Kubernetes apps on 50+ providers across the globe. No vendor lock in - google, azure, Amazon, etc. You can fund with bitcoin on Akash, but they do use their own token within the ecosystem. Is something like this being built that would be considered bitcoin native?

Yeah, I usually frame it in the context of discussing with the person what money is, and I never get a person that says, “It’s the thing that represents and stores the value of the energy a person or entity expends to do something productive, that can’t be devalued by another entity.” People don’t get that. I usually discuss the deflationary effect of technology as well. It’s hard to make people understand without them doing some work on their own, and a lot of people just won’t do that.
