I saw this too defo some good old fashioned media manipulation tbh due to reporting.
It’s safe to say the world is going crazy not just the UK:
Germany
∙ A journalist published a satirical meme of Germany’s interior minister holding a fake sign reading “I hate freedom of speech.” She reported him to the police, and he was prosecuted and given a seven-month suspended prison sentence.
∙ In February 2026, Germany carried out coordinated nationwide raids over online hate speech posts, with law enforcement acting on approximately 140 investigations across all 16 federal states.
∙ One man posted suggesting refugee children should play in electrical wires — fined 3,750 euros.
USA (more recent)
∙ Under the Trump administration, several foreign nationals were detained for one to two months after their visas were revoked over nonviolent online expression, including students posting about Gaza.
France
∙ The arrest of Telegram’s founder Pavel Durov on arrival in France — though that was framed around criminal law (child abuse material, organised crime) rather than speech directly.
Canada
∙ A man was ordered to pay $10,000 after a Human Rights Tribunal ruled his Facebook posts, speeches, and emails about LGBTQ+ people constituted hate speech.
And back to the UK’s more absurd cases:
∙ A couple were arrested by six officers for criticising their daughter’s school headmaster selection process in a parents’ WhatsApp group.
∙ An autistic 16-year-old girl was arrested for saying a police officer looked like her “lesbian nana” — her grandmother is actually lesbian.

The pattern across Western democracies is similar: the laws are broad, enforcement is inconsistent, and the cases that attract outrage tend to be the ones where the punishment seems wildly disproportionate to any actual harm caused.

In the past year I have seen debt in a totally different light to what I have in the past.
I’ve recognised I let the narrative of “good debt” and “bad debt” build my belief systems around money over the past 10 years.
I genuinely subscribed to the whole “buy borrow die” idea and thought this is the way that you “beat the system”.
I’ve come the slow realisation that actually you are not beating the system doing this…
You are the system.
You’re stealing from EVERYONE else each time you do this.
The only way to “beat the system” is to opt out. Stop feeding the system, stop taking in more debt- pay it back starve the beast and own something outside the system that is a true free market which helps everyone.
The EXACT opposite of what I’ve been doing for 10 years.
And currently there is only one way to truly opt out of the system…
Bitcoin in self custody.
The choice really is that simple. Hold Bitcoin in self custody. Or steal from everyone else.
We are all the problem. But we are all the solution. Your choice matters.

Some AI napkin math (the last data I fed it was $98k so bear that in mind)
Has the mining reward in dollar terms ever been consistently lower after a halving?
No, never. Even though the BTC amount halves, the dollar value has always increased substantially by mid-cycle:
• 2012-2016 cycle: ~$12,500 average
• 2016-2020 cycle: ~$125,000 average (10x increase)
• 2020-2024 cycle: ~$250,000-$400,000 (2-3x increase)
• 2024-2028 cycle: Currently ~$306,250 (already roughly matching the previous cycle’s average)
The immediate post-halving period might briefly see lower dollar rewards, but within months the price appreciates enough that miners are earning MORE in dollar terms despite getting half the BTC.
