My return train journey from Hastings to Maidstone via Ashford got off to a fine start with the cancellation of my designated 18:25 from Hastings to Ashford due to a "The unavailability of a conductor" (!?). A bone shaking and stomach churning replacement bus service failed to reach Ashford in time for the 19:25 connection to Maidstone so am sitting on the 20:25 awaiting its departure in a few minutes. Severely underwhelmed.

Is it only me that seems to see a well known alternative Android phone OS (named after a carbon allotrope) continually tooting extremely derogatory, accusative and vitriolic commentary on any alternative phone OS 'other' than their own?

Delving into Gnu Image Manipulation Program 3.2.4 and another milestone advance, the non destructive editing.
The UI briefly caught me out when using the Colour Curves adjustment tool as the option to 'Merge' (their term for apply permanently) did not appear when using on a layer group. Seems the default is for an adjustment to be an 'fx' (their term for non destructive) in that scenario.
Fine tbh but if I did want to apply it permanently to all layers in the group how to do that?

@nprofile…mdas I managed to bale out of the real world a few years 'early' when I was 60, actually on my birthday, which was also a Friday and [final] pay day! Seemed the stars had aligned, if I believed that old guff 🤣. Best thing I ever did. The 'numbers' didn't really add up but I manage to get along, I'm 'low maintenance' in my dotage.
As long as I remember when it's bin day (and get the recycling/black bags sequence right) everything else is a happy blur 👍😁

I'm told, and read, that changes in core beliefs do happen, but have never witnessed it myself.
I realised that all religions (including the one I was raised in) were not for me over a few years aged 9/10 to 12/13 but I never really had much belief anyway and it was my own thoughts rather than anything external that made my mind up.
None of that is much help with your toot!
Recently told friends that'd gone down rabbit holes to just stop 'believing in things'. Didn't work!? 😂

@nprofile…hnqz you know, despite there having been some obvious reasons, being always involved in creative arts, to enter the apple-sphere, I have always stepped back at one point or another. Maybe it's just my antennae always sparking a "What IS that smell" reaction combined with a strong sense of being significantly over charged, I don't know. Always felt very similar toward protools as well... anyway have managed fine without either to date.

It was amazing, especially as my older guitar teacher/friend had taught me by then some of Bert's finger picking tunes. His version of Angie of course but many others.

@nprofile…jv6w it would've been when I was around 14, maybe 15 I think. So guessing '72/'73? That pub is (sort of) in Harrietsham in Kent, nearest big town being Maidstone about 10 miles away. Ah! Still going but like all more remote pubs, as much food place as drinking hole now. Picked egg in yer bag o crisps was about as much food as you got then. Me and Paul used to walk a mile up the hill from his house. "Evening 'boys' what'll it be?" the old rascal at the bar would say!

40 years ago I mixed/produced an album for a great (semi local) band. Somehow the analog master cannot be found (it was never with me) but at last an archive copy has surfaced in an early digital format (on video cassette) called Sony PCM-F1. Hurrah!
I will remaster and re-release it. But... the album was archived onto it with hardly any leader tape and the first minute or so has some bad digital drop out/artefacts. So I now have serious restoration to do. New territory! #audio #restoration

The kit/self build Telecaster is reassembled after fitting of new bridge (with compensated saddles) and some further fettling, plus half a pot of *__very stinky__* Lord Sheraton 'Caretaker' wood balsam. Looks good and plays good. One last mod to do; lowering the string slots in the nut which are way to high still. Means a drive into the sticks to visit a friend who has a set of the proper files. Then... it's finally finished, completely completed! 😂

Been twiddling about with mixing the Lydian and Dorian modes and getting my ear and fingerings locked into it. Another way to describe it would be Lydian b7 of course as notes 1 to 4 are 'Lydian' and 5 to 7 are 'Dorian'.
I like it and just wondered if any others here in Unimatrix Zero liked/knew it too?

I think it was in my early 30s that I finally realised that those 'boring old gits' had been right all along about the guitar sound being primarily from the player's hands and heart. Forever wished I'd never sold my first sort-of-proper electric guitar, a cheapish SG copy... foolishness of yoof! 🙄

Had 5 weeks totally clear of spam phone calls. Started again in the last few days but the #spamblocker app throttled the bastsrds, so I will never know what garbage was being channeled. It's set to silently answer the call for just 1 second, then hang up. That way they don't get to voicemail and also do get charged for the call (if they actually pay that is).
Probably already another excellent use of LLM bollocks.

The version of CalyxOS on my phone is a bit long in the tooth as they paused development while having a big internal reorganisation, but the update is now nearly ready. The non google Android world is in good health I'd say 🙂

That shop Grape Tree is good for things with 'no added xxxx'. I like their Just Peanut Butter, made from... well... just peanuts. No salt, sugar or oil added. Great for cooking duties and fine on toast too. Remarkably good value as well, which probably reflects the decreased processing involved.

With 'that' Friday coming up, here's a gentle tune. An ode to my beloved Cleopatra, a gentle girl we rescued from 'whatever had happened'. She would flop on the keyboard or sometimes just lie on the printer and watch me with those languid beautiful eyes, quietly purring. I wrote another tune years before this one, on the first album, called In Cleo's Eyes, so they are kind of bookends I suppose.

Just left some very positive feedback on my local Maidstone Borough Council street cleaning.
Made a report at 6.30pm yesterday, about some fly tipping and got an update at 6.30am this morning to say it had been cleared. I'd say that was definitely 'above and beyond my expectations'
A common moan is "They never do anything about [whatever]" but perhaps if YOU tell them about things rather than leaving it to that famous 'someone'...

We'd have a devil of a time explaining to them that whoever was loud on stage would be correspondingly quite on the tape (and visa versa) especially at smaller gigs. Loud on stage = quiet (or even not) in the out front mix, and of course the opposite too. Probably 'teaching grandma hoe to suck eggs' but just in case!

Indeed, and therefore falling into Bill's lap really as classic BB material. I really need to go see him live again but my covid wariness is an issue. He always lifted my spirits so much. First time I saw him was at Maidstone's tiny Hazlitt, had seen Eddie Izzard at the (old) Marlowe a little while before and thought I'd never laugh that much again... I was mistaken!

Yes, almost 'industrial' in a way. I did consider a few custom options but (with no real science 😂) went with a gut feeling that the Tele twang is partly down to the bridge/saddles arrangement. Even unplugged they still have 'that sound' so the 3 compensated saddles seems worth a shot.
The bridge/saddles with the kit are actually non std width(?) hence new bridge as well as comp. saddles. I'm pretty sure the narrower string spacing was to allow more leeway for bad alignment!! 😂

Stripped last year's bargain Telecaster kit guitar right down as am fitting a new bridge with better compensated saddles. Obviously didn't need to do that but noticed I still had half a jar of Lord Sheraton Caretaker wood balsam and polish left over. Beeswax, linseed oil and pine turpentine mix and BOY is that pine turps stinky! Went over to a mate who has a large outside garage and slapped loads on, three or four times. Fabulous result! Di also goes nuts for mayonnaise which (daddy checked) is fine and I only give her a little (a dollop extra on my dinner plate doled out in finger tip portions 😺)... had a ginger tom, Paddy, that loved steamed veg! Brussels sprouts and broccoli in particular. I'd hold them for him while he chomped away, quite hilarious 😁

Yes indeed.
I too am branded a cruel and unjust human for denying Diamanda access to my hummus, merely on the grounds that the garlic in it is basically cat poison.

Well, one thing to come from your toot is that he was just a name I'd heard of but knew nothing whatsoever about. He might even have been a fictional character in a play or something. Now I have read up on him so my knowledge has increased. I think I will give his writing a miss though. As he was a fanboy of the dreadful man that in reality only ensured 'his own' train ran on time, I think we are destined never to meet.
