@nprofile…h0v6 Kamala was not even an option :guilded_lul: RFK is pretty much the only silver lining of this administration, though. I would not say by any means that I feel more confident in the country now than under Biden. We went from an old puppet with dementia to an old sellout with possible dementia who is willing to sacrifice Americans at the behest of a foreign nation :guilded_shrug:
At least gas wasn't this high under Biden. Trump just doesn't give a shit and he's said that explicitly.

@nprofile…h0v6 if he was playing hardball in a way that actually benefitted Americans, sure. But he's done essentially nothing politive after his first 5 months or so in office. He passed the BBB enthusiastically, made the decision to bomb iran multiple times, oversaw the epstein coverup. Yeah, there were other people involved like Pam, but he's the one with the power and failed consistently to make the right choices.
His entire second term has been a massive L. I regret ever supporting him.

However, I think the No Politics rule needs to be rethought. It's a tricky issue and I respect the effort being made toward a workable solution, but in my opinion I see it as unenforceable and can easily lead down a road of either selective enforcement or even a post-woke kind of censorship where people don't feel like they can express themselves when I comes to important issues.
I think it is going to need to be amended at some point.

Unfortunately, Massie lost. It's a huge blow to privacy, as he was one of the only Republican congressmen who supported 4th amendment protections.
This election mattered a lot for the continuation of F-Droid, which is currently under attack, as well as many other issues we all post and care about!
However, I like Oregon and I don't want to completely trash the No Politics rule, so I won't push it any further beyond this thread 🧵👇

The Massie race today is a big deal though. There are like 5 politicians who have actually proven that they are trying to solve problems. I gave him $10 in Bitcoin to show support.

Every time I check X, I am reminded of just how disgusting human beings (and to be honest, a large number of bots) can be.
After spending time on the fediverse, I'm convinced that the old format of social media is going to be humanity's downfall.
Giant corporations gatekeeping proprietary algorithms are not going to lead us to a better future, EVEN IF they are accepted as so-called "free speech".
You can see it with your own eyes. It's like two separate planes of existence.

One thing that bothers me most about AI is the fact that it's being pushed by *every* major tech company ubiquitously.
There's no thought about the users, only making money through forcing AI on us at every turn.
Use Windows? Copilot is in EVERYTHING! Google? Gemini is EVERYWHERE.
What if I want to use my own AI? What if I don't want to use AI at all?
This is a major problem that needs solving.

@nprofile…05fn @nprofile…4d45 PRO TIP: subscribe star is absolute ass in practice. They mandate that you have 5 people supporting you to get a payout and minimum $50. There's no app, the interface isn't great, and uploads have a pretty small cap.
I'd highly recommend trying out kofi or buymeacoffee instead! SubscribeStar will work with you to an extent but it's been nothing but problems for me. They also take a pretty large cut. A $1 donation ends up being like $0.61 in your pocket.

Imagine a world where almost half of people die before they're 5 years old, 90% of the population do back breaking labor in the fields 16 hours a day with maybe one day off if they're lucky and are essentially one step above slaves (serfs), there's almost no sanitation, medicine was leaches and drilling holes in your brain, you couldn't vote, the list goes on and on.

A new version of Pearl is available!
I worked basically non-stop for the past 3 days to bring Pearl up to speed with all of the feedback I've been given.
Linux users now have a simple install for Docker and Kokoro, enabling enhanced TTS.
Both Windows and Linux users will also notice a more responsive and bug-free UI, along with helpful uninstall buttons in settings.
