Here's the picture: 9th grade biology. Our teacher, Bill McQuilken is lecturing about something long forgotten. He uses the word "phenomena" which prompts Jeff to shout "DO DO DO DO DO!" at the top of his lungs. The class has a collective laugh. Mr. McQuilken laughs hard enough to snort, causing the class to erupt into even more laughter, practically ending the lesson for the day and cementing Jeff into the class clown hall of fame.

I was in the crowd and at the parade in the end but didn’t make the cut.

I'm thinking more about the dealers who run those "bad credit, no credit? No problem" scams where they finance directly, like Rent-a-Center but with a car loan. Back when Comcast headend techs built channel multiplexes in the headend someone in Colorado Springs mapped the Playboy PPV channel onto the wrong mux. It had the same program ID as Nickelodeon (of course). It went out on the system for several hours until someone in the call center actually believed a customer and called down.
After that the company policy was to map all the smut onto a prebuilt mux and dedicated equipment, with red coax and labeling. Only a few people had passwords

I usually copied my boss on most email. It was mostly a CYA move and always came in handy when someone was looking for someone to blame for their incompetence. Last thing any supervisor needs is someone from another department dropping a hot steamer in his lap and blaming one of his guys.
Thing was, reply to all was the norm, and quite often the distribution list would get quite large. Taught me how to be diplomatic and still call out lazy or incompetent employees.

One of dad's HP41 calculators (don't worry, he has several others to mess with... they're just having to downsize significantly and can't have 10 of everything anymore). When I read the Foundation trilogy I imagined Hari Seldon predicting the future with one of these. Many are lost forever because the batteries leaked and destroyed the very fragile contacts. This one had some green death on the springs that cleaned up with a scotchbrite pad. I think I need to stick with the emulator.
