La critique constante de la jeunesse n'est pas un phénomène moderne. Not quite. The new owner will have all the renovation they were planning anyway paid by the insurance company as they buy the insurance benefits along with the house. This is not fiction, it did happen to me, as the seller. The price did not change a cent.

Korea being thorn into ever since does not seem to be a great example, but that's not really the issue. First, we might want to define "success". Does this word means that the people should start to live and think as westerners do or that they could leave the way that suits best the majority of them ?
Once success defined, we could then asses its rate: 50% and around means sheer luck. Only if over, say, 75% would seriously suggest that the action was worth it. I'm afraid we're very, very far from it.

Hier soir, j'ai entendu au cours de l'émission Quotidien, monsieur Nicolas Dufourcq, directeur de la banque publique d'investissement, suggérer sans rire que les salariés dits "seniors" devraient voir leur rémunération réduite parce qu'à leur âge, les enfants sont adultes et ne sont plus une charge et leurs crédits sont finis de payer, donc...
Tant qu'on y est, et puisque leur pouvoir d'achat serait réduit, pourquoi ne devraient-ils pas aussi avoir un logement plus petit, hein, après tout…

Aujourd'hui, la liste des sites internet "pro-russes" que les fournisseurs d'accès européens doivent bloquer sous peine de sanctions est publiée et contient de nombreux sites qui n'ont rien à voir avec la Russie.

Hier soir, au Théâtre Simone Veil à Saint Nazaire, j'ai vu un des plus beau concerts de ma vie par une artiste comme on en rencontre jamais assez. Seule en scène avec son violoncelle, quelques effets et la salle archi comble à faire deux ovations debout pour les rappels. L''album (que j'ai la chance d'avoir déjà écouté en Dolby Atmos, nananère...) sortira au printemps. En attendant, voici une vidéo d'un concert enregistré à Nantes en 2022.

Glad that you reached out to them, they also run discord and telegram channels. I too am convinced that blockchain is a large part of a better ecosystem for music rights management. It is not a surprise that SACEM (the french PRO that also runs ASCAP in the US and PRS in UK) is using blockchain (Tezos, I believe) for their date-proofing system called MusicStart, which is free to use for their members. Even in a decentralized blockchain-based system, they probably still would be needed (as a digital signature) for identity checks.
Totally agree also on the valuation of music. My opinion is that it's not actually music that is undervalued but music recordings, which are a slightly different thing. When I started in this business, in the mid 80's, recording an album cost far more than 12k, more like the price of a house. And, from the label's perspective, the recording budget represented from 2 to 8% of the total production cost as you had to add manufacturing objects (vinyls and cd's and cassettes), shoot a video-clip (and that would cost as much as recording, mixing and mastering the whole album) and pay the promotion in the hope that journalists would like the music so you could finally reach the public. Technology has hopefully short-circuited most of this but with side-effects. And like in any domain, the retail price is somehow linked to the production cost, and the latter has been reduced to next to none, especially since Suno, Udio and the likes.
All that being said, I'm very hopeful that this situation will lead the public to value more the music in itself, especially in direct live moments, probably largely improvised, so one knows that what they're witnessing did not exist before and will not happen ever again afterwards. DJ sets and improvised electronic music performances are a good example of that, imo.

Not really. I've been following them since the beginning and met the CEO recently at the MaMA festival (a big indie music event in Paris, France). I decided to invest and get some of their $AFT tokens. The main obstacle is that most indie artists are not so informed about the administrative side of music and that many professionals (publishers mostly) tend to be very defiant about blockchain. Convincing both is gonna be a challenge. But Allfeat are already connected to many people and could join the DDEX consortium, that's encouraging.

There were and are many attempts. None successful yet, which is not that surprising that many artists already have quite a lot on their plate already and, at a larger scale, music is a business controlled by only 3 companies that have enough power to strangle any innovation.
Funny I should find your note this morning, when no later than yesterday evening I made my first live twitch as I'm precisely ambitioning to take along those who would like to board the crypto-decentralized train for music...

L'UE poursuit sa volonté de surveiller toutes les correspondances électroniques privées et comme le fait d'y obliger toutes les plateformes était un peu "too much", le projet prévoit désormais de récompenser celles qui le feront d'elles mêmes tout en pénalisant celles qui le feront après requête judiciaire.
C'est un peu comme la prise de votre ADN: vous avez le droit de refuser, mais c'est 1500€ d'amende...
Je trouve ça très bien car ça ne peut que pousser la population vers les solutions open-source et décentralisées comme Nostr, Keet ou Session.
Et pendant ce temps, les lois qui protègent le secret des affaires se portent bien. De même qu'on refuse aux journalistes la consultation de documents publics portant sur les contrats d'armement dans le cadre de la guerre au Yemen.

Comme j'ai l'impression que les cours de music-business que je délivre depuis pas mal d'années se sont récemment transformés en cours d'histoire, je souhaite entamer une exploration méthodique des alternatives qui s'offrent aujourd'hui aux artistes et labels indépendants.
Mais il ne servirait à pas grand chose de le faire seul dans mon coin, d'où la mise en place de live twitch.
Au programme, en premier lieu, une économie alternative va nécessiter une monnaie alternative et ce ne peut être que #bitcoin. On va donc commencer par voir comment devenir sa propre banque, avec du #lightningnetwork dedans.
