Survived the priest meeting. Actually left early. Not because of the content, but because the place was an ice chest. No blame cast: this is the time of year where it's impossible to regulate indoor temps in a commercial space in the Midwest, but at -115 lbs, I can't handle cold like I used to.

It boils an ocean to generate text. Modern computers happen to be controlled by precise subset of text. Find other things text is good at, marketing, yeah already being done, just about all copy is LLM driven or fully autonomous, and the goal of many agencies to be fully autonomous.
I think the use case spreads out across fields of engineering, civil, meches and others are using it to assist their cad, check their equations, create the BOMs etc. Insurance and banking are replacing underwriting.
It's useful as a business tool, just like talking about SAP, or excell spread sheets, or outlook email. That's the only real context it's being discussed in outside of vibe coders.

Yes, that is true today. I can see where this is going.
Every business having a fully custom erp with virtual office clerks instantly performing menial bookkeeping and operations coordination, is not something that only supports the coding class. It unleashes entrepreneurs from regulatory overhead and allows them to focus on profit center operations instead of office worker baby showers and vacation schedules.
Except nobody does this. Or should do this. Because even if you implement this, you’ll still spend mountains of time figuring out if it’s actually doing it correctly. Or you should. Because, you know, AI sucks sometimes at getting things right.
I love it. Although I tend to use it mostly now, just to send encrypted messages (notes) to myself from work.

The only real reason AI has any traction at all, and has gained the hype and economic backing it has, is because the Coding Class loves it. Of course they do: it's extremely helpful to them.
The Coding Class drives tech trend, though, and here we are: we have a tool really helpful to the coder, which is also of nominal importance to everyone else. Businesses once sold on the idea that AI would make their operations more cost efficient are realizing otherwise, and the Average Joe just has a quicker way to Google stuff and make funny pictures.
Once Wall Street exploits the IPOs on Anthropic/OpenAI... well, we'll see just how much the bubble can burst without tipping over the entire system.
Locally hosted AI for content managent/filtering and more powerful AI for coding. But you are right that most of the rest of it is useless to the average person.
Avoid prosperity Gospel nonsense at all costs, and remember that what you're promised is the Cross.
In the end, I'm not anti-AI: I just want people to evaluate how valuable it actually is to the majority of people in this world, outside of the code it assists in generating.

On the last paragraph, especially: this is why you see the overwhelming majority of Americans reject data centers. We're a utilitarian people (for the worse), willing to bend if a perceived need is big enough.
But nobody really gives two squirts about LLMs. For most people, they're an image generator and a search engine for answering questions, and and that's about it.
