Also, just the mentality:
1. Build a major feature that is a ticking time bomb.
2. Tell people to not use it in a normal fashion because it's actually pretty horrible.
If they send it to a hot wallet, then that wallet is potentially tainted. If they send it to Lightning, then why not just send it to Lightning, to begin with?
There are also encrypted zaps. where only the sender and recipient can see them.
They're trolling some of us by sending us Bitcoin they know we won't want to touch. If that answers your question.
Which is a grotesque decadence, but okay.
This. I use lightning addresses for my profile and for fundraisers that are controlled by a group. It's not my address, I just have permission to use it.
And I have cycled through various addresses. I even changed the wallet behind the addresses. There's an abstraction and obfuscation and deniability layer to Lightning that on-chain simply doesn't have.
Yeah, young people don't have any savings, so they don't care about store of value.
No, no, it wasn't the software. A container I was running had a memory leak. Froze up the whole server. Should work now.
Can you help me test, by trying again?
The server seems to be slow. Maybe it's being updated. I'll check it, later.
Hmm. Maybe it is slow, from the Internet over there? It's loading normally, for me.
Anyone else having problems?
Just don't use clients built by yahoos.
Example. payto://paypal/derjuergen
Well.
https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/per-device-keys/4e.md
I don't recall you doing much zapping of internet strangers. Feel free to send me a fat Lightning zap. 🤗
The whole point of this is that it's aimed at people who aren't savvy enough to use Lightning (or Monero). If they then need those protocols to move the money, the whole exercise is counterproductive.
That's not how that meme works, but okay.
Also implemented the "w" tags and the ability to have multiple lighnting addresses directly on the kind 0 profile. We're tip-agnostic, so we just implement every possibility.
But on-chain zaps is retarded.
We already have that, with the payto:// address scheme. They want to turn everything into zaps, tho.
You can add Patreon, PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, USDT, Monero, Doge, non-zap Lightning wallets, or Bitcoin on-chain, etc., to your profile on https://jumble.imwald.eu/ using the payto:// address scheme. If people click the corporate money transfer items, it opens in that website.
I even show a little icon for each one. 🙂
The idea that any of this needs to be a zap, is just silly and dogmatic. Just let people list whatever the heck they want, wherever they want (it doesn't need to be in any specific place, if it is an address scheme), and make it clickable.
I added a random wallet to my profile, a while back. Nobody ever sent anything to it.
We have gotten on-chain donations, for larger amounts, but we don't post those addresses publically. We send them an invoice.
You can also constructively and publicly address what you disagree with. Many of the people observing don't know the potential downsides and appreciate someone with a clue giving a reasoned review.
Not all reviews need to be positive, to be useful. The whole point of developing in public and publishing the code base is to receive public feedback.
We also haven't only gotten positive feedback and had to rethink our core design numerous times. That's normal, in engineering.
They're getting rid of signers, tho. You puts your nsecs in and you decrypt all the things and basta.
Data doesn't lie, but it isn't information. Information requires interpretation.
Yup. Gen X, here. And our phone had a cord and was in the kitchen. 🙈😂
Remember, if you're a @npub1z0l…8ldk fan, you can hop in a call 📲 from #Imwald. Just go to the person's profile, that you want to call, and they go to yours. There is a reserved room for each 2-way connection. 😊 You can also jump into a group call directly from an event, or schedule a future call on the calendar. (Yes, we also have a calendar 🗓.)
Or just send each other audio messages, that appear in your notifications.

Time to put away the phone, dear. GN.

Ah, a fellow crazy person. 🤝
R&D is a bit like art. Sometimes, you're simply a mad scientist, tinkering away in your basement.
I suppose it looks odd, to people who aren't internally motivated, but it's like I have an inner locomotive and an endless supply of fuel...
Have you been following @npub1l40…mh7n ?
I had this long list, before, and it was starting to look spammy. But I have now added Alex to the website tags.
That's because we launched v0.1 (the MVP) and then went radio-silent because we are now completely overhauling the backend _and_ the frontend for v0.2, and doing some big data migrations. @npub10np…tl5h @npub1226…grkj @npub1qdj…fqm7 @npub1636…qpl4 @npub1wqf…qsyn and I are really busy. And we had to spent real money on compute, which is always painful. 🙈
The 0.1 is at https://alexandria.gitcitadel.eu/. Once we get the 0.2.1 out, I'll make an announcement. It's going to be a very different experience. Much more focused on reading, exploring, curating, and downloading books and other publications. And there will be way more books in there. 🚀
(Also, we have incorporated, which took some time, but was low-key, totally exciting. 😊)
I know everyone is wondering why I keep working on stuff when I am one of the very few devs who isn't paid to be here and whose stuff never gets promoted by the bigger npubs and that basically nobody has ever heard of and hardly anyone even uses.
I don't really have an answer. I also constantly question my own sanity. Where is your self esteem, girl? They don't want you around. You have cooties. Like, take a hint. Geez. All of the popular people think you are totally uncool and your ideas are stupid. (Well, if they knew your ideas, they would think they are stupid. Ideas can catch cooties.)
I know. I know. But I need to go update my relay, so I'll have to think about it... later.

I'm unfunded. It's considered a black mark on Nostr, unfortunately.
Oof. Have you just sort of abandoned making design decisions, entirely, and decided to just own the chaos? 🤣
#wisp : get rid of all the things
#amethyst : add all of the things
I'm sure that you'll keep me up to date. :snow-white:
I assume, if they have nostr.land in their kind 10012 or 10002, that they are subscribers and add in aggr.nostr.land for everything except the home feed (that uses favorites).
I also automatically backup follow lists to wss://hist.nostr.land before updating them, in case some error wipes them out.
And noswhere is in the full-text search.
Am I missing anything else?
I have TheForest, Christpill, and Land as favorites (kind 10012, which determines what is read for the Imwald home feed.
I have TheForest and Land as my inboxes and outboxes.
Citrine is my cache relay (r+w).
Probably not, if you weren't decrypting on some weird clients.
Not for the user.
You're whitelisted on TheForest 🌲. Just read and write to that, and it will spread your events around the network, on the server-side.
If you want local storage of your own notes and an aggregator for your frens, just add Citrine 🍋 on your Android phone.
Then you're done.
It's amazing, how fast the notes spread.
TheForest and christpill stream in and out.
Having nostr.land in my list triggers my client to also use wss://aggr.nostr.land.
The local relay is the new Citrine, which crawls the network to find events from my follows, from a list of relays I give it.
Orly is also an aggregator and streams TheForest and gets picked up by aggr.nostr.land, so I don't sub to it, directly.
I now only subscribe to:
* wss://theforest.nostr1.com
* wss://christpill.nostr1.com
* wss://nostr.land
* ws://localhost:4869
And then my client and the aggregator relays and streaming relays does the rest. 😊
So much faster, fr.

It doesn't make sense to turn off all notifications. Just don't look at that menu item.
That would be really bad design, tho.
Yeah. I am one of the only humans posting there.
They clutter up the relay connections and just looking at the tab means you download a bunch of stills for 6-second videos about nothing. It's not my market.
