Can you handle derived pubkeys tag in follow lists, @npub1226…grkj ?
Yeah, I also have Cake 🍰 on my phone.
They don't have to publish anything, as these aren't zaps. They're simply payment addresses listed on the profile page. Individual clients can create handlers for them. Opening your Lightning, Monero or Tether wallet, directing you to CashApp's or BuyMeCoffee's website, etc.
What you don't get is a public zap receipt. But what a client could add is a DM receipt that the payer could send you, after they have confirmed the payment. Then they don't have to write "By the way, I sent you some Monero." in the comments. Then it is very private, but also social, and you get a chance to say, "Hey, thanks! 🤗 " or "Oh, there's something wrong, it didn't arrive. 🤔 "
Offering google sign-in wasn't necessarily a bad idea, but it's painful to remove Amber support on an Android app. I had to uninstall it. I was using it regularly, before.
I'm fine with XMR, thanks. 😊

I'm actually kind of, sort of, low-key interested in on-chain _private_ zaps that don't suck and don't look like a government surveillance wet dream. Especially if clients were clever about it and used addresses from kind 10133 payment target events or w-tags on profiles (so, opt-in!) and recommended Lightning vs on-chain, depending upon the amount sent?
Do we have a working group for that, to come up with a NIP for it, so that client devs like me can implement them? I don't know, if the tech is there, yet, but we could at least get a band together or something.
Do any of you know of anyone working on this, that I didn't tag? Or does anyone want to just reply here and suggest themselves? 🙋🏻♂️
@npub1gcx…nj5z would you be interested in offering that as an alternative for your users, or even maybe as the default, if we got it to work?
Only someone who has been educated of the risks can make an informed choice. And client devs should make the most-sensible choice the default, so that people don't accidentally do something colossally stupid, out of ignorance. You should have to opt-in to the riskier stuff.
It's definitely a good tool for a poweruser, dev or tester because it looks and acts like a normal client, but it has its own database (with file imports and search and broadcasting), can connect to localhost relays, let's you see the raw json and edit the json of events you want to publish, publish any kind, read any kind, use the full CodeMirror editor with Markup and Asciidoc, etc.
It's been a labor of love, but I was just having way too much trouble testing Alexandria and needed better tooling that just does absolutely everything 🤣
It now does HTTP-relays, as well. I don't know if you saw that.
We finally started revamping Alex, by the way. It's been languishing, while we debate what to do next and upgrade servers and stuff.
As we say here:
I cannot eat enough to vomit in disgust for as long as I would like.
This is for use _inside_ of the European government agencies. They have been sending the residents' official data to American companies for storage and processing, which means that the USA government has access to all of it through legal means. Some of it is encrypted, but the data flow can be analyzed and reported to the US authorities.
There are also encrypted zaps. where only the sender and recipient can see them.
My app feels more alive, than ever. Genuinely fun hanging out here, now.
My Jumble hard-fork. Been hacking away at it, for months.

Did the IRS give him a grant, or something? 🤪
Ah, he muted you?

Nothing works normally, anymore, unless you pay for it. I don't know how anyone can stand to use the freebie versions.
Successfully migrated the #Imwald telephone lines from Vanilla HiveTalk to Honey 🍯 .

Also, just the mentality:
1. Build a major feature that is a ticking time bomb.
2. Tell people to not use it in a normal fashion because it's actually pretty horrible.
If they send it to a hot wallet, then that wallet is potentially tainted. If they send it to Lightning, then why not just send it to Lightning, to begin with?
Hmm. Maybe it is slow, from the Internet over there? It's loading normally, for me.
Anyone else having problems?
They're trolling some of us by sending us Bitcoin they know we won't want to touch. If that answers your question.
Which is a grotesque decadence, but okay.
This. I use lightning addresses for my profile and for fundraisers that are controlled by a group. It's not my address, I just have permission to use it.
And I have cycled through various addresses. I even changed the wallet behind the addresses. There's an abstraction and obfuscation and deniability layer to Lightning that on-chain simply doesn't have.
Yeah, young people don't have any savings, so they don't care about store of value.
No, no, it wasn't the software. A container I was running had a memory leak. Froze up the whole server. Should work now.
Can you help me test, by trying again?
The server seems to be slow. Maybe it's being updated. I'll check it, later.
You can add Patreon, PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, USDT, Monero, Doge, non-zap Lightning wallets, or Bitcoin on-chain, etc., to your profile on https://jumble.imwald.eu/ using the payto:// address scheme. If people click the corporate money transfer items, it opens in that website.
I even show a little icon for each one. 🙂
The idea that any of this needs to be a zap, is just silly and dogmatic. Just let people list whatever the heck they want, wherever they want (it doesn't need to be in any specific place, if it is an address scheme), and make it clickable.
Just don't use clients built by yahoos.
Example. payto://paypal/derjuergen
The whole point of this is that it's aimed at people who aren't savvy enough to use Lightning (or Monero). If they then need those protocols to move the money, the whole exercise is counterproductive.
Well.

That's not how that meme works, but okay.
Also implemented the "w" tags and the ability to have multiple lighnting addresses directly on the kind 0 profile. We're tip-agnostic, so we just implement every possibility.
But on-chain zaps is retarded.
I don't recall you doing much zapping of internet strangers. Feel free to send me a fat Lightning zap. 🤗
We already have that, with the payto:// address scheme. They want to turn everything into zaps, tho.
I added a random wallet to my profile, a while back. Nobody ever sent anything to it.
We have gotten on-chain donations, for larger amounts, but we don't post those addresses publically. We send them an invoice.
You can also constructively and publicly address what you disagree with. Many of the people observing don't know the potential downsides and appreciate someone with a clue giving a reasoned review.
Not all reviews need to be positive, to be useful. The whole point of developing in public and publishing the code base is to receive public feedback.
We also haven't only gotten positive feedback and had to rethink our core design numerous times. That's normal, in engineering.
They're getting rid of signers, tho. You puts your nsecs in and you decrypt all the things and basta.
Data doesn't lie, but it isn't information. Information requires interpretation.
Yup. Gen X, here. And our phone had a cord and was in the kitchen. 🙈😂
Remember, if you're a @npub1z0l…8ldk fan, you can hop in a call 📲 from #Imwald. Just go to the person's profile, that you want to call, and they go to yours. There is a reserved room for each 2-way connection. 😊 You can also jump into a group call directly from an event, or schedule a future call on the calendar. (Yes, we also have a calendar 🗓.)
Or just send each other audio messages, that appear in your notifications.
