The value of a currency is the value of the market using this currency, that's what most fails to realize
Could you elaborate? I miss something happened recently?
Unfortunately people never learn... Until we could pay groceries in Sat the banking drama will anyway be there because even if they could get BTCs they very probably found no one who accept them counter services and goods, except maybe at absurd price.
Personally I fear a scenario where people understand finally, only when they are totally broke, so they can't anyway exchange fiat counter BTC, and seen the current trend, it not that unlikely
The EU is ruled by Nazi, only most still fails to understand such a simple historical fact.
As well as most still fail to understand that current "socialist" are as left wing as Hitler, wanting common stuff for the poor, meaning all impoverished citizens, the Hayekian breadcrumbs to avoid revolts, while for them private ownership of anything.
Unfortunately below a certain number of Citizens, slaves allow the dictator to rule. The only possible thing is separation, waiting for the slaves rage when they'll discover that owning nothing will not means being happy, and they'll see others living differently. That will be when their revolt begun, again, against the same ruling philosophy, and maybe this time we can manage to drive them eradicating the plant instead of cutting it and get it back stronger and stronger.
The Trezor is a good FIDO2 key since if break you can recovery anything from the seed, but nothing you can do if the third party you want to interact with do not support them to push you towards apps and biometrics....
A/C coupled with photovoltaics is the best solution to live well, there is a push against it because in homes you can perfectly couple them, in apartments you can't, and the banksters do not want that people realise how the modern tech and time demand personal ownership instead of being owned by some big capital but that's is and it's the tech that define an era.
The market could stay irrational the longer you could possibly stay solvent, people do not understand money on average not private property of immaterial things, so ...
Actually it's not much a personality trait but a will to keep people in the city, because doing do means pushing the 99% to the zero ownership while the few who possess loan everything.
If you are in a city chance are you don't own a home, you like in a flat on rent, you could be impoverished enough to go to goshiwon so being forced to not have a washing machine, but ready made meals, not owning a car, ... Being essentially an economic slave who love see big skyscrapers who are not yours and feel to be a part of something big even if your part is being slave.
That's the why of the push against remote work.
Big tech want anyone on mobile+cloud because they know the value of ownership, so they keep prices off common iron extreme to avoid most could possibly own, to keep them their slaves.
So when it will end? Well probably in many years, because sadly most people do not know the value of ownership
BTC initially flourished thank to the D-company, AlQuaeda etc not because it hurt people but because for their activities they was the firsts outside the cypherpunks to understand the value of a free distributed currency.
Then State actors join. The current bear is Wall Street broken who try to save themselves but it do when some people start to understand the value of a distributed FLOSS currency. It's still to be seen how many will understand and when.
4G could penetrate some water depth, not much though.
Biometrics anyway is needed just for surveillance capitalism, it's the password anyone can see, you can't change, you can anyway loose (for instance for a minor injury). Even the Hollywood PRs who sell it in movies also shows how easy you can get fingerprints, voice, face, ... Also from a dead body, while you can't really milk a password, especially with systems where some form of deniable encryption is possible (meaning you can give a password that seems ok, but it's not/it's trigger some safety mechanism once used).
The problem is the classic knows your enemy. Most people fails to realize that the banksters on one side (politically labelling themselves as "left" while they are Nazi) and big tech on the other (generally labelled right, but they are indeed cleric-fascist) fight for the same power on the same masses, but their agendas aren't much different.
Mandatory logins through big tech serve the purpose to silence anyone they dislike and the end of open internet/open web, so they can control much more the narrative people feel every day.
It's just a part of a bigger scenario where "in 2030 you'll own nothing" meaning they count to own anything to re-create the perfect space they already have in workers of the UK enclosure's time.
Until enough people understand they'll win.
Left and right are labels/tags used to master people, they do not represent political lines. The current "left" are the heirs of those who create Nazism back then. The current right are mostly cleric-fascists not much different then the ISIS Syrian government created with the Timber Sycamore CIA Op.
A cohort of people is "left as the label imply" and another "right as the label imply" but they both have no representative in politics/economics. They both seems unable to unite against a common enemy, the banksters, the British Crow who create the Nazism, Zionism, Fascism, ... Simply to extract wealth from us all.
Until this happen they will win anyway.
As an old unix-er, with limited crypto knowledge, but good enough in tech, I'm curious about BCHNostr: I know the BTC/BCH past fork, but AFAIK lighting network, at the base of zaps, is BTC, not BCH. Do BCH have made it's own kind-of layers? How many TPS could BCH sustain now/which average fees if not?
A very good law, I hope some equivalent here in the EU, and some to remove limits to photovoltaic+storage home setups, that should not need anymore any municipal approval, often refused for personal aesthetic preference of some officer...
Absolutely, but unfortunately it's a long journey, painfully long.
Just a small personal story: thanks to remote work I've left the city for the mountains building a new home. Even done friends and family member call me fool because "you know remote work is not real work, it can't be", "with all the homes already there it's a waste of money building something new" etc. After 11 years, some have visited me in nearly all seasons, having felt the comfort, seen my bills compared to theirs, and well... They still think remote work is a joke, ah you don't really need aircons, it's just modern fashion, ...
EU is a mentally old country, where us who love evolving are locked by flocks of luddites. Such reactionary bipeds pretend A/C is not needed, it's even bad for health, you should learn to suffer, ... Do their best to avoid aircon.
There is no cure, just natural selection and time, newer generations are less fool, but they still have to learn to kick others from behind.
Si già many TPS are normal today?
The problem is that the value of a currency isn't in the coin itself but in the market that uses it; for now, BTC is being used, and that gives it value, but it's not used enough, so there's still a constant need for a currency exchange which, by going through the fiat world, cancels out the advantages of BTC, the case of Francesca Albanese, like Wikileaks, shows this clearly. Until even the supermarket accepts BTC, this problem will persist.
AFAIK Bitcoin cash have maximum 200TPS in good moment, how could it possibly scale? Lightning have many issues but have potentially million of TPS. What I miss?
Me personally as a relatively old unix-er/emacs-er, with enough knowledge to understand but not really active in crypto development, a casual ex high school geek back then having minded something but then nearly nothing more, I mainly complaint the lack of design and documents. I see here things popping up without docs, without public discussions on the project, something alien to FLOSS and so I find onboarding not easier even with a significant baggage of knowledge and theory.
I discover Nostr on HN, i've deployed my really two hours later and yet I still have to learn much because nothing seems documented and many projects are just code dump like some corps do for Open Source Enterprise stuff.
In that case choose anyway at least south and west orientation, if you plan mostly direct usage (little to no storage) then prefer a classic string inverter, micro cut much on peak power, and DC inverters are less efficient. But consider anyway that even a small storage means you can keep your system running also in case of a blackout, which might be very valuable not only now but in the future as grids are more and more strained and so unstable
Hum, maybe that's a client thing...
Bhe è comunque un evento! La rete cresce :)
Using a desktop instead of mobile will be of help. Pasting text then delete anything except v=... or even better https://youtu.be/... where ... is the video ID would be of help even if needy long and definitively easy to automate
Consider that the number of people using them are also different
Oh, una zeneize di Nostr ! Belin ma alua stemmu crescendo davvero!
People like to be slave, to avoid thinking, taking care of anything, modern dumb terminals like cloud+mobile mainframe+dumb terminals, offer that. GAFAM like this behaviour as well.
One go, another City actor came...
People are flock animals, only a small percentage is rational, flock animals tend to prefer being part of the largest flock. Some diverge a bit but lacking knowledge and rationality they fall for some gurus. Only for know enough to remain centered.
That's the main issue... The real obstacle for a modern society.
There is an issue for lightning network though: AFAIK there is no separate hw (offline) signer, like the SeedSigner, but for obviously hot lightning wallets normally used on mobile.
As a result you still put your seed phrase for the limited lightning money on something e can't trust.
The first issue is that there are no topics not groups, a Reddit/Lemmy UI, would be much more helpful to attire people.
Second a unified UI, with private chat and VoIP, mail like messages and personal blog as a long form profile page...
All to avoid distributed computing in private homes, sheds etc with photovoltaics and storage etc.
All to be sovereign on others, who must own nothing and pretend to be happy...
Curious, the company is Dutch, the restrictions are off the USA government and apparently they compliant that are not accepted in the rest of the world...
Actually anyone is supposed (and maybe denied) to run their own relay so like in the nearly forgotten Usenet, groups keeps flowing, messages keep flowing, but individuals decide what to host, what to plonk (ban).
This is part of any large agorà, together with personal scoring, because when a gazillion of human write separate what you want is needed, you can't read thousands of messages.
The issue then lay just in IT ignorance where most do not run their own relay, and so Nostr network is divided in some large hub and many marginal relays.
Lightning network have a similar issue: running a personal node is hard so most don't and live on someone else computer.
If you don't self-host you can't be sovereign
Actually politicians are just PRs of banks, banksters are the government
I would be very careful about taking certain stories as gospel; they may or may not be true, but throughout history, most of the horrific crimes recounted by one side against another have almost always turned out to be completely fabricated or at least wildly exaggerated. Someone noticed this and observed, "kill 100 children and the world will be against you, kill 100 million and no one will say a thing because they won't believe it even in the face of evidence". The point is that there are limits to what can be known, and well, I take certain news with a pinch of salt.
In the UK, the ongoing social unrest isn't due to what the genuine participants (meaning those who aren't paid agitators) themselves believe, but simply to the draining of wealth towards the City, which has turned the UK into a third-world country for most people (not that they were rich in the past, it's not Italy, but they were certainly much less worse off at many points in history).
In the UK, British souls have always been at odds with Celtic ones, the Nazi kleptocracy at odds with the entire populace, and so on; in times of prosperity, everything is dormant because most people have full bellies and a roof over their heads, but in times of hardship, everything is amplified.
In particular, today there is a gloves-off fight between the US clerico-fascists and the demon-Nazis based in the City. Just as the BLM protests were likely pushed (not created; the underlying malaise is necessary for them to happen, but amplified and nurtured) by the demon-Nazis, it is likely that the current trends in the UK are being amplified by the clerico-fascists. In the meantime, the UK moves further into economic collapse for the majority while they are busy discussing other things; it generates World War III by plundering the EU with high-treason complicit governments, and the people think about other things, now it's Pakistani gangs, now it's the yacht seen being driven off with warning shots from a Russian naval unit. Anything to avoid talking about the fiscal robbery, the economic collapse, etc., of the masses.
I would focus on this. Stories of extreme youth distress are very common in countries with high inheritance theft, known as tax, like the UK, France, Belgium, and Spain, unlike Scandinavia, Italy, the Czech Republic, and others that either don't steal or steal very little. These are common stories in "collectivist" societies where the value of the family is diluted compared to that of society specifically to better rob the masses.
Meanwhile, I also suggest thinking about what difference there might be between the poor Pakistani criminal and the likes of Epstein, who does the same thing but with style. Which of the two makes more headlines? Which one is making more headlines right now? Why... In essence, they seem very similar to me on a substantive level for the victims. And yet, I didn't see much in the way of "protests" for the Epstein case in the streets...
I agree, but most are anyway mobile-tied. Me personally I'm tied for public car charge when on the go and I fear public sector evolution who might eventually mandate without explicitly telling the mobile for taxes etc pushing a mobile-only "digital identity" for instance.
Banks have already almost done that pushing their crapplications... And these days you can't live without a bank in most of the Western world
We really need open source hardware period, not just for specific usages!
Not a name I choose, they decide to name their project out of a kind of sheep from South America...
Vikunja is a FLOSS popular task manager, featuring also a Kanboard, multiple users etc
It's hard because government regulate people's quarrels, so they need to been able to size money from a citizen and give them to another. Tribunals can't operate without such power.
It's still possible though to limit government power on citizens will on scale, like a consensus protocol where the government can't avoid asking not can't ignore the citizens response. This is the best way we have to develop a substantial democracy, but we need a big enough Demos, who are not the people at a whole but just the active part of them in a society. Actually the Demos is dramatically reduced
Why not a Vikunja backend to help self hosting?
Actually are not the politician but big tech who want a login for anything with the excuse of child protection. They want it since they are big enough to harvest enough for their LLMs, and they do want to avoid the improbable possibility of a community made model on open data. They do want to own data but they do not want anything in public hands.
That's why the current expensive hardware push and mandatory logins. To push people on cloud+mobile, remotely handled platforms you can't own, and to deprive people of the information.
Unfortunately most still have to figure this move...
I dream do but... Not much optimistic in that regard, mostly because most people have next-to-zero IT knowledge so, simply do not know alternative exists and economic giants do their best to keep people in such state.
So I surely expect a revolt at a certain point, but asking for the wrong targets...
True but most people seems mobile-tied, against self hosting, so create something more desktop-centered seems not in fashion
Self hosting have no reasons to be that expensive, if sooner giants do not want to push people out of it. You can host most common services for 500€ / 880kSAT if some times ago.
When this happen hw OEMs decide for price spikes till today, exactly to keep most out of digital sovereignty. The plot is the very same since the PARC.
