I am not doing an SPV at all. That's why I am going full node. No backend besides other Bitcoin nodes and maybe some gossip providers if that becomes too much.
So that we can provide node data to other apps. But yes, it would be a lot easier to do an headers-only SPV-like app for a single, simple wallet as well.

I am not using bitcoind, and neither lnd nor cln. App on Android can talk via content providers and other Android-native ways of doing it.
There were many ugly ones in the early days. I used to run full nodes on my phone too. They worked. They were just unsafe or ugly as hell.
