All taxation is theft regardless of the justification and to me justifying any tax is illogical because the taxes are mostly paying interest on debt which you never consented to or were consulted on when it was taken. You can justify paying the mafia to not destroy your business or break your kneecaps but it doesn't make it any less evil. The state is a gang of thieves that have ascribed to themselves monopoly on violence and even the so called protection isn't done well. You are better off hiring mercenaries or private security guys to protect your property, which brings me to the real question what are you actually paying for? You don't need the state to enforce property rights or conduct arbitration. Your bitcoin example is a terrible one because for starters bitcoin is voluntary and my rights to the private keys I control are never violated at any time, not to mention the fact that I can leave the network at anytime and not incur any fees the day I do. Is the state the same way? Absolutely not.

Amen brother!! Pre-covid, my explanation as to why a lot of people were asleep about stuff like 9/11, JFK, and the like, was that they were ignorant folks that didn't have access to the right info. Covid was the gut punch I needed to realize that, while some were genuinely ignorant, for the most part it was actually wilful ignorance and general apathy which generally would always be recognizable every-time I heard, "If what you are saying is true why hasn't any credible msm news program reported on it", or "I know the govt is bad, but they are just trying their best to work with a bureaucratic machine". Once I heard that, I eventually stopped talking and started exiting many social and professional circles that I was in. Very painful but very necessary. Who wrote The Giver? I think what you are describing is different because it's not knowledge that makes you separate from a particular group of people, but misalignment in values. No one person knows everything, so we are always going to be learning from each other in some shape or form. The problem comes when people prefer the lie over the truth and the fake instead of the real, and refuse to acknowledge the truth that's right in front of them. That's a sign of an imprisoned soul which is not the same as an ignorant person, or someone lacking a particular skillset.
WHat's even worse is that, when you take the wealth redistribution excuse and closely examine it, you will realize that not only is it theft but the people that push it never redistribute their wealth. In fact they carve out exemptions for themselves and harp on about how everyone needs to pay their fair share! Fair share of what exactly?!
I don't remember reading about that in the DOI, Bill of rights or the constitution. I mean a tax revolt was the event that triggered 1776, but 250 years later folks are voluntarily handing over at least 50% of their income to the state!

Even before I was fully clued up on all things finance and economics, taxes never made sense to me at all; but now that I have a better grasp of things they are actually even more irrational! Take property taxes for example, you own the house but still have to pay the man. What exactly are you paying for? Is owning property a crime or something?
How could i forget that one?! Twice taxed income and I also forgot about how you still pay property taxes on a property that you fully own 100%.
