I'll try them both, thank you!
Which is the normie app / client? I'll try it out haha and as a normie it was the first app I found that was being recommended for being modern and fully featured so I went with it.
I suspect these are the things that will come to light if you get a bunch of normies and just tell them "create a Nostr account, login, then find a meme or funny post" without any further guidance or push in a certain way.
Amethyst is very sensory overload with 1,000's of settings, pages, etc and drops your right in not knowing what to do.
"The heck is a relay and why can't I view the live stream I literally just saw when it was showing up on the top but now I can't find it?!" -Me, approx. 7 days ago.
Best way to refine Nostr for normies is get a normie friend that uses X and IG religiously and sit them down and force them (pay them with food and beer) to create a Nostr account and then have them find one meme or funny post but don't help them at all. Just observe the pain points they experience and focus to work those out until you have a super simple seamless social media experience. And then once you have the new happy user in this Nostr ecosystem without any pains, the tools are already built in to give them incredible power to further curate their Nostr experience whenever theyre ready and/or comfortable.
While I have y'all here.. Is there a way to combine different favorite relays merged into one "view" in Amethyst?
Make the very initial experience of using Nostr normie focused and have a curated feed.
I just started using Nostr via Amethyst recently and I still feel like I'm trying to find the general community in this app/protocol.
I had to work and am still working to curate my "feed" and it's a bit confusing.
I suspect a lot of people try Nostr but then give up almost immediately.
I keep trying to get my IRL friends to get on Nostr, but, I don't think they'll stay once I eventually convince them enough to try it out.
Maybe in half a years time I will have my Nostr experience just how I want it and fully understand its inner workings but it's probably a bridge too far for people that don't want to leave normie social media.
I'll try them both, thank you!
