I think once NWC came around and one click zaps became standard, the UX didn't offer the anon or private zap. Maybe I'm setting your default zap perhaps could be changed, not sure.
If you one click zap you don't see anything about making it anon.

Here in the American south it's called CPT. "Colored People Time."

gotcha - the server is the part i was assuming out of my picture. it's a nicpicky detail, so i won't belabor it - but there is a small difference in accountability and liability (as a developer and maintainer) if you're running a server that explicitly provides this service to users of your app, vs distributing client-side code the users do whatever they want with.
anonymously provide some html and js, on the one hand. vs running a server that explicitly facilitates money transfer for unknown users on the other.
like i said though, that's a tangent to the ux point and i didn't know about the path you described wrt npub.cash auto-receive and smushing it into a client application. thanks for addressing that

so a nostr client that wishes to have payments embedded in its ui - say it's a streaming platform where you get paid per minute by viewers or pay per minute as a viewer - would need to get a brand-new user to **take some action** to set up npub.cash in order to send first? compared to nutzaps where they could send instantly on "signup" to the app without touching anything else.
do you see my point? i can't tell if i'm not making this clear or you are continuously avoiding addressing this use-case head on...

in the ux i'm describing, don't you need both? each is necessary but not sufficient for that user experience. do you know of another way to arrive at that ux i'm describing?

I did it as a statement precisely because it was stupid. I was already added to the list by someone else without being asked, and since I couldn’t leave it, it only made sense to unseat them.
If I were to give up because of every idiot I’ve seen on Nostr, I’d have left ages ago.
