This legislation proposes a 0.2% tax on all cryptocurrency transactions, applicable to entities based in Illinois or those with annual gross revenue exceeding $100,000. TDC contends that this tax contravenes the U.S. Constitution's Commerce Clause, as well as the state constitution's provisions on uniformity and due process. Furthermore, the organization argues that the tax violates the Internet Tax Freedom Act. The lawsuit requests a court injunction to prevent the state government from enforcing the proposed tax.
