There is some great @nprofile…38w4 work being done by @nprofile…pts5 and his AI minions. He did some ground breaking work which will enable seedsigner on many new cheaper hardware devices and I challenged him $150 (in sats) to make the work even better (upgrade to latest version of lvgl). He got the work done in the challenge week so now I am paying out.

Seems like they used to have a directory a while back to find Square merchants, and then it was removed. Not an easy task to find Square Terminals these days except on foot, store by store.

yes, they are more pricey than their competitors. A lot of it is due to the tech of the screen hardware itself: it's reflective vs emmissive. I haven't seen anything else on the market that has both the refresh rate of an iPad (quick zoom in/out with no lag), and be able to see perfectly in full sunlight.
Just a tablet currently, but I think their next move will be smaller devices like a phone. They have been focusing on parents/children more recently to help get ahead of tech addiction (schools giving children addictive devices at younger and younger ages), while still providing tech literacy with a non-addictive device/screen/software.
I do like a good old paper book and my phone on airplane mode (or not near me at all). I recently found that most of my e-reading distraction issues were due to the device itself (i.e. the flash-rate/high intensity color of the screen messing with my attention & constant notifications).
Since I got a @nprofile…d7jf tablet I've been loving e-reading. Notifications are off by default. I load it with PDFs, and ready to rock and roll undistracted. I usually keep it on airplane mode while I'm reading just for that extra level of lock-in. You can notate directly on the PDF, and it feels like writing on regular paper. The best part is you can use the tablet outside in the full sunshine, so it really unlocks reading in any environment.
