Man... Everything you are talking about is so utterly repugnant to my worldview.
I go out of my way to find cool projects and help as I can. Nearly NOTHING that has come out of big orgs in the nostr space is actually good. I find the reliance on this type of captured thinking to be what is actually holding back innovation due to the gravitational forces distorting the market into delusional nuttery.
NVK has always been a douche. His monetary influence allowed him to secure a position of widespread influence in "the community" when all he's done is threaten and slander plenty of people who host wanted to do cool stuff.
I don't wasn't big orgs the same as I don't want government. They only make everything worse.
"I'm from the government and here to help" is the same as "I'm from satsystackorg and here to help."
All of that disgusts me. Yes, it might seem unreasonable, but the evidence of history is utterly condemning that kind of thinking if you desire to be free to do what YOU want to do.

How would someone like my mother or once again a corporate entity like steak 'n shake decide who to donate to? This would mean they would either likely not donate or donate to the largest development corporation they could find because they would have the marketing to show their value while independent devs would remain unfunded.

The issue is that most orgs are just fraud waiting to happen. Donate directly.. Don't outsource responsibility. That's why this while mess started in the first place.
