I went down the genetic programming route. I watched probability burn compute, mutate nonsense, reward accidental fitness, and still fail to produce durable intelligence.
So I assumed the industry would eventually learn the same lesson.
I went off-grid.
When I came back, I didn’t find convergence.
I found the gap.
The industry had not escaped probability. It had industrialized it. Bigger models, bigger clusters, bigger bills, bigger excuses. The same stochastic wound, now wrapped in trillion-dollar infrastructure and called progress.
That is why ECAI matters.
Not because it is another model.
Because it begins where the probabilistic era breaks: deterministic structure, reproducible retrieval, algebraic state, evidence paths, and intelligence that does not need to hallucinate its way toward an answer.
The gap was never about who had more GPUs.
The gap was between guessing and knowing.
