Wszystko to prawda, tylko... Kogo stać na zdrowy styl życia i ile to kosztuje w dzisiejszej Polsce?
On-chain zaps made me rethink about the main reason we do **zaps** in the first place.
Zaps are supposed to be for the social fun. Its purpose is to be seen, to be public. "Private zaps" make little sense because they are just regular transactions, on-chain or not. Nobody can have any social fun with them.
The goal of the "Zap" (on-chain or not) is to publicly show your fiancial support to the creator to everybody else. Now, if the fun is not there anymore or you are scared about it, you should not even try to participate in the zap economy. There are other signals you can send to have fun online, including regular transactions (the old tip jar, payment targets, etc).
For the on-chain zaps future, we need to keep reminding ourselves that feature only works if we are using it correctly: to have **social fun**. It's not a regular wallet. It's a source of fun, pride and real signals that just so happens to use on-chain money. There are multiple ways to code it, with Silent Payments and all, but the purpose is to have fun with others. It is to be public.
So, I fully support this initiative. And Amethyst will support removing anything Zap in such a way that you can just do regular private transactions if you want. You cannot control what others do, but your side will be configurable.

they can just check the chain for outputs.
We need a new name: zapalittlewithlargeamounts
we're gonna need to do an onchain zapathon then. zapathons proved that zaps were fun.
yep, good option to have.
My bad (@npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z) it was shipped.. but I didn't add you to the list :(
Can you reset your Index relay list and Search relay list? I wonder if we are not finding the relay setup of those users. Since those lists are private to you, I cannot test it here :(
Let me see if I can understand STRC. I put all my money into it and if bitcoin fails then it collapses and I lose all my money.
But if fiat fails then it’s been paying me in fiat and I don’t have any bitcoin because I put it all into STRC. Is that right?
the problem we gotta fix lol
Such as Amethyst and Ditto 😂
Jason Lowery's SOFTWAR playing out in real time.
Congressman Lance Gooden says "the Pentagon is currently researching how bitcoin can be used toward" strengthening their cyber defenses.
Bitcoin "is the center of a paradigm shift in national security that the U.S. military is moving to capitalize on."
Yep, the other stuff is more todo with untrusted senders (like anon zaps) faking the transaction, and/or sender and receiver colluding or the receiver building up a special large transaction that actually happens to himself just to show off. It's our own version of round-tripping fraud.
In such a way that nobody else sees the zap, only receiver and sender? It's fine but, then it's not a zap in my mind, it's just a "tip jar" like we used to do in the old days.
Zaps are cool exactly because you can see people liking a note. It's the social component that is key. I think it will be sad to see it disappear. But it is more private..
we can actually tie them for the owner of the nsec only.. the public can compute a silent payment address and send BTC to anyone without having that person setup an SP wallet. For the public, it will just be a new UTXO for each zap.
we are testing silent payments already.. coming up
Sure. And how many people do that out of all of their users? Do they disable their offerings when you are using the app with your node?
You know that there is not a single monero mobile app that allows you direct access to Monero's node, right? It all goes through the servers of each app and those servers can all track you. Monero is suffering the same fate as bitcoin. Companies took over and they are not allowing anyone to easily play without passing through them.
True research is nothing but utopian dreams. Unfortunately we have stopped dreaming a long time ago.
Nobody is experimenting with Bitcoin. They are all building external systems that fix Bitcoin if you give up the original idea and pay that third party.
I think he knew. But he was hoping people would evolve the system to make it happen. Not to make it so complicated and ugly that everyone would need a third party to use.
Worse than this is the fact that today we don't have a single good Bitcoin native wallet on mobile. Everything goes through somebody's services or looks like it was made in Win95. They completely abandoned the core purpose of the Bitcoin idea.

⚡️✌️ ALERT - Security experts warn that AI can now steal fingerprints from regular high-resolution selfies. Hackers may only need clear photos taken from about 5 feet away
Modern phone cameras and simple AI editing tools can sharpen faint fingerprint lines invisible to the naked eye, allowing people to create fake fingerprints to unlock phones, banking apps, payment systems, or smart door locks.
Chinese experts recently showed this on live TV using an ordinary celebrity selfie.
Although it does not work with every photo bad lighting, blur, or greater distance can prevent it, the technique has become much easier thanks to better cameras.
To protect yourself, think twice before posting selfies where your fingertips face the camera.
Blur or cut out the finger areas before sharing photos online, and use stronger security methods such as passkeys or Face ID for important accounts and devices.

On iOS? You dont have a choice.
On Android? It's ok, but use a signer.
On Browsers? Never. Use a signer.
On Desktops? You dont have a choice.
I am not wrong, I am just "limited by the technology of my time". As soon as somebody makes something better, I will merge. But that has not happened yet. We will see.
This is good, but it doesnt solve the problem we are trying to solve: it's too hard to create a lightning wallet to begin with.
have we forgotten that people can have different thoughts or opinions and still get along? the world would be an incredibly dull and boring place if everyone thought the same thing.
Hum... Weird, let me see if there is an API issue. Are you behind Tor or VPN?
Neither does your onchain wallet will have 1B in it. This is a nostr wallet, not your cold storage.
If you think it's false equivalency, you are in for a very disappointing ride with nostr.
You can't change your npub as well. Just FYI.
Lol, I will post as many times to your replies as I want. Welcome to Nostr.
Yep, what you do is not public. But everybody just sends the zaps back into the network. Right now there is a full trace of most of the bitcoins on Nostr because very few people take the out. It's just a full public record of the Bitcoin circulation among Nostr keys.
Claude says these ones should work:
- Bitcoin
- Ethereum
- Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Zcash
- Tron
- EOS
- Cosmos
- Binance Chain
- Stacks
These ones specifically will NOT work:
- Solana, Cardano, Polkadot, Algorand, Stellar, XRP Ledger, Aptos, Sui - these use ed25519 (Edwards curve)
- Monero - uses ed25519 variant
- Zcash shielded transactions - use Jubjub / BLS12-381
The problem is figuring out from a Nostr pubkey how to send in a way the user can actually spend. The key MUST be secp256k1 for this to work, which fortunately is a lot of them.
I think you can just deterministically generate keys for any curve out there.. there might be different methods for each chain, but entirely possible.
It's not useless. It's just not the hardcore crypto security you would usually see. Our apps REQUIRE a hot key loaded in memory at all times. There is no way to do cold wallets. We are literally always in the line of fire. We can't protect anyone against compromised systems and most phones are compromised.
I You agree that you will never have security if keys are placed on a network connected device. Then, all we can do is to minimize the damage and let people play while they can.
People scared that $100 on your Nostr key is gonna make you a target: being Rihanna with $0 makes you a target. Having $100 just moves you slightly closer to being Rihanna. But honestly not by much. The fact people are worried about this really brings to light the sorry state of Nostr.

The concept of a public wallet is very interesting and we need to explore more. It goes beyond zaps, where transactions are public and everyone can see them, but balance is private. With onchain, you get a free, public, identifyable address to receive anything without having to pick and be locked into a lightning provider or a cashu mint. But anyone can see and verify its yours.
