That's where the overwhelming praise for The Odyssey from people in & around the film industry is coming from. They are so excited about how he tamed this story, made it comprehensible & digestible to them in blockbuster format.
I'm not personally impressed by Nolan's version of visual spectacle, but a lot of people are, & that's what he replaces the substance & tone of the story with: spectacle.
