I guess Hungary and Slovakia could do the same but they chose the cheapest and closest.
In my country since years infrastucture has been made for huge ammounts of gas etc to support the supply of eastern Europe from Bulgaria to Poland. Also the ship owners were converting ships to be able to carry LNG and we simple people had the question, who would buy that since it would be 30% more expensive. Then the war in Ukraine started and everything got clear.
