Yes, you've understood correctly
With Orbot I can actually choose an app, in this case WhatsApp, and also in the settings I can set "How to connect" tried snowflakes, now trying others one at a time, but on WhatsApp, they have disabled sharing media files, and so even with Orbot running the settings above I still can't download voice notes or images.
I'll step away from my devices for a bit, then will return and try the mail thing, and radicle.
