I have often pondered a new IP design, considering lots of the way things work now. I have no idea on IPv8. Maybe I should publish my ideas some time. Made to avoid NAT, greatly simplify operation of TCP/IP stacks and of routing.
Part of my idea is a reliable packet stream as well as TCP style byte stream. I think such exists now but rarely used IIRC.
