Tribalism leads to conflict.
When everyone studies everyone's traditions, there are no tribes other than the one tribe of Earthlings.
There are a few reasons that people won't do that though.
Usually it's fear, ego, and laziness but people will resort to all sorts of mental gymnastics to justify their choice to be closed-minded and unloving towards their global neighbors.
"No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother than which he desires for himself."
If you want people to learn about Islam, you have to learn about their traditions.
Failure to balance such things constitutes hypocrisy, arrogance, prejudice, and willful ignorance. None of those things are virtues, so, if that's how you wanna roll, have at it but don't expect to live that way and not receive well-warranted criticism for doing so.
