It was less that I found it difficult to follow and more that the way they structured it was far less effective than it should've been. In hindsight I think it's due to how Glitch does their pilots, where the pilot is the first episode, so they had to split the difference between it being an introduction and a high intensity sales pitch. The idea feels like it'd work a lot better as a slow build, kind of like how Amphibia did it.
