Make the switch, but leave it on dual boot with Windows and don't keep any important files on the disc with the file system, so when you get stuck you can go back.

I have not needed to open windows since Feb last year (yay!) but I keep it around since it is a work machine and I fear a moment a crash will lock me out when I'm racing against a deadline. Hopefully that won't ever happen.
