This doesn’t quite track. Africa doesn’t use hot sauce. Many Asian countries do but they’re culturally rich.
Thailand is far from third world, especially compared to western countries.
An easy way to falsify the theory is if hot sauce is used only on meat dishes or vege dishes too.
