They definitely don't have that time in most cases and I think studios are a lot more hesitant to allow experimentation with stuff, and it just waters down everything, sadly. The people that do get away with it though at that level I think do swing for it and I am happy to know there are people trying to still advance things at that level inspite of all the studio troubles.
I actually have not seen When Harry Met Sally and REALLY need to fix that gap! :)
