in theory nobody needs a node. you can just live by trusting public nodes.
250 usd is a big money. half of minimum wage where i live. you have to set it up consciously. you have to take a time to learn it, how to use it etc. these are all barriers. being able to run your own node easily what makes bitcoin different than everything else. what makes it decentralized.
what if it was just an app, when synced taking ~200gb only on the disk. then would you agree that there would be a lot more node runners. because knowing from my past self, there are many people who whats a useful full node, but can't because they dont have extra hardware or storage.
anyway i think we need to optimize storage on disk somehow. might be possible.
(btw i realized topic has shifted away from bip110, but yeah, anyway)

100 million people own bitcoin, use a bitcoin hardware or hot wallet. where is their node? they have a wallet app, why don't they also have a node app? or why that wallet app doesn't have a built-in node running over tor?
bandwidth, and storage.
my phone has a node running on the termux because there's no user friendly app for it. and i had to buy a sdcard for it.

i was talking about the reaction to a change, not disk size. this soft fork is not even a change it just hardens what was the norm, for a year.
and when it comes to disk space, yeah normies aren't gonna run it. it takes too much space. they would use that space for games and other files.

i would make block size 300kb(to undo the damage of bigger than 1mb blocks), and would make opreturn 32bytes(enough for timestamping on the timechain)

Bitcoin needs to be more like Nostr in terms of decentralization.
- It is easy to run a relay.
- There are many relay implementations and its easy to implement it yourself.
- There are many client options, and its easy to make one.
- You can run it on your phone easily.
I mean Nostr is easy to isolate, and doesn't have double spending issues.

so example.
extensions add an event listener to the page, listening the event "nip123:requestAPI" for example.
then the page loads and the webapp listens the event "nip123:announceAPI", then it dispatches the event "nip123:requestAPI".
then the extension listening on that event respond with their name, description, logo, and api object by dispatching the event "nip123:announceAPI".
then the app can pick one or show the users options to pick one. or multiple. etc.

why inject it inside the browser?
it can be message and event based, allowing multiple extensions. nip07 had the same issue of extensions fighting.
you emit an event or broadcast a message using the BroadcastChannel, and extensions respond by giving you their names, logo, and api object. so you can show the user options from the extensions they have.

there is nothing unreasonable about it.
taproot doesn't need OP_IF defeats the whole purpose of it.
we don't need OP_RETURN bigger than 32bytes.
bip110 is being way to generous with 80bytes.
it fixes the problem, and breaks nothing.
its enforcing what was the default in the first place.
