Today I was watching Steal, a new TV series on Prime Video, and for the umpteenth time Bitcoin appears, misinformation is being spread.
TV series and films that Bitcoin must stop making people believe that if a cold wallet is lost or stolen, your Bitcoin is gone.
This is not a harmless simplification.
It is misinformation.
Saying that Bitcoin is “inside” a cold wallet is like saying money is inside an ATM.
It’s a convenient lie for the plot, but toxic for the listener.
It oversimplifies, yes — but worse, it simplifies wrong.
Here on Nostr, we know this well:
a cold wallet does not contain Bitcoin.
It contains keys.
And those keys can be reborn elsewhere, as long as the seed phrase exists.
If you lose the device but still have the 12 or 24 words, you’ve lost nothing.
This is a fundamental difference.
Yet in films and TV series, the wallet becomes a relic:
it falls into the sea, explodes, gets stolen… and that’s the end of the story.
Bitcoin evaporated.
Easy drama. Immediate fear.
I understand why.
A seed phrase is not photogenic.
Twelve words on paper don’t create tension.
A physical object does.
But the price is paid by the viewer, not the screenwriter.
Because that scene sticks.
It sticks when someone thinks,
“Better not save in Bitcoin, if all it takes is losing a device…”
It sticks when fear wins over understanding.
It would take very little.
One line. A sentence thrown in, almost casually:
“Don’t worry — as long as we have the words, we can rebuild everything.”
Ten seconds.
No infodump. No lecture. Just the truth.
The point is not to defend Bitcoin like a religion.
The point is to stop educating people through fear and narrative lies.
Misrepresenting a new technology is not neutral.
It shapes decisions, discourages saving, and reinforces the idea that everything is fragile, esoteric, dangerous.
And here, yes — said clearly and without apology:
this misinformation is irresponsible!

On #Nostr, liking something is a light, almost decorative gesture. I overuse it myself, but honestly, it doesn't really change anything.
It doesn't build memory, it doesn't spread an idea, it doesn't leave a trace over time.
Reposts, on the other hand, are hands that take content and put it back on the road.
That's where Nostr breathes: the network doesn't reward you because you're liked, but because you circulate.
If no one reposts, even the truest thing remains silent.
And then there are zaps.
They don't lie. They are value expressed without metaphors, attention that becomes cost, time that becomes choice.
A zap says: this is valuable to me.
It is not consent, it is responsibility.
Here in lies the difference, stark and somewhat uncomfortable:
on other social networks, a like is a cheap caress;
on Nostr, only actions that risk something count.
That is why likes are of little use.
They are background noise, useful perhaps to the ego, but not to the protocol.
If we want to make an impact, we must share or support.
The rest is silence disguised as applause.
Saying this is not cynical.
It is simply seeing Nostr for what it is:
not a place to be approved, but a place to circulate value.

Over time I’ve realized something, though: not all sunsets speak to me in the same way. Some remain simply beautiful, while others ignite a specific detail, something that grabs me and makes me fall in love, to the point of wanting to paint it. I am an early riser.
I wake up while the world is still quiet, between 4:30 and 5:00,
when the day is unhurried and nothing is asking for me yet.
I prepare breakfast slowly, almost on tiptoe.
A thread of vocal jazz fills the kitchen — Ordinary Music —
barely audible, never demanding, just enough to keep me company.
My little dog climbs onto my lap.
Time stops there, without needing anything else.
It’s the most beautiful moment of my day.
The only one that equals it
is when my wife wakes up
and joins me in the kitchen, still half-asleep,
her face not yet fully returned from dreams.
I am grateful.
Deeply.
And I wish for nothing more
than to live these moments,

Essere tra i primi è difficile.
Vendo i miei quadri solo per Bitcoin.
C’è chi non capisce il perché.
C’è chi pensa che sia limitante.
Ma col tempo ho capito questo:
chi ha colto l’importanza di Bitcoin è, in un certo senso, un privilegiato, e spesso non se ne rende nemmeno conto.
Non perché sia più intelligente o destinato a qualche vittoria, ma perché ha intravisto una fessura nel muro prima che diventasse visibile a tutti.
Ha intuito che il denaro non è solo moneta, ma fiducia; non solo legge, ma potere.
È un privilegio quieto: non dà garanzie, non promette ricchezza, non risparmia fatica.
Capire Bitcoin non significa essere arrivati. Significa esserci arrivati prima.
E arrivarci prima è scomodo: ti isola, ti espone al dubbio, ti costringe a spiegare cose che gli altri non sono ancora pronti ad ascoltare.
Molti di quelli che “capiscono” non si sentono affatto privilegiati.
Si sentono semplicemente fuori dal tempo, ed essere in anticipo è dura.
Bitcoin non è una religione, né una scorciatoia.
È uno strumento complesso, che pretende studio, disciplina e responsabilità.
Non perdona superficialità, né tecnica né morale.
Non salva nessuno per magia.
La verità, senza edulcorarla, è questa:
capire Bitcoin non ti rende speciale.
Ti rende responsabile.
Responsabile di continuare a studiare.
Responsabile di non mitizzarlo.
Responsabile di non predicare alla cieca.
Responsabile di accettare che potresti sbagliarti sui tempi, sui modi, sui risultati.
Se esiste un vero privilegio, risiede in questo:
nell’aver intuito che le regole del gioco non fossero eterne.
E quell'intuizione, una volta raggiunta, non ti permette più di tornare tranquillo come prima.
Ed è per questo che per i miei quadri accetto solo Bitcoin.
Non perché ne sia sicuro.
Ma perché non posso più far finta come se niente fosse.

But here's what I've realized:
those who have understood the importance of Bitcoin are privileged — and often don't even realize it.
Not because they are smarter or destined to win, but because they noticed a crack in the wall before it became obvious to everyone. They sensed that money is not just currency, but trust; not just law, but power.
This is a quiet privilege: it offers no guarantees, promises no wealth, and spares no effort.
Understanding Bitcoin doesn't mean having arrived. It means having arrived early. And arriving early is uncomfortable: it makes you lonely, exposes you to doubt, forces you to explain things others are not yet willing to hear.
Many of those who "understand" don't feel privileged at all. They feel ahead of time — and being early is heavy.
Bitcoin is not a religion, nor a shortcut. It is a hard tool, demanding study, discipline, and responsibility. It does not forgive superficiality, technical or moral. It saves no one by magic.
The truth, without sugarcoating, is this:
understanding Bitcoin doesn't make you special. It makes you responsible.
Responsible for continuing to study.
Responsible for not mythologizing it.
Responsible for not preaching blindly.
Responsible for accepting that you might be wrong about timing, methods, outcomes.
If there is a real privilege, it lies only here:
Having suspected that the rules of the game were not eternal.
And that suspicion, once born, never lets you return to being at ease as before.
That's why for my paintings I only accept Bitcoin.
Not because I'm certain. But because I can't unsee what I've seen.
