Lately I’ve been taking much longer to finish a painting.
I need to observe it more.
I watch the colors dry and reflect the light differently.
I’m not trying to paint something “beautiful.”
Beauty alone lasts a moment.
A quick glance, and then the eye moves on.
When I paint, I’m looking for something else.
Something that makes you stop in front of the canvas for more than a second.
A small friction.
A feeling you can’t explain right away.
Something that keeps you there a little longer.
If that happens, then the painting has truly begun to live.

Please, I use Wisp daily as my main Nostr client, but the Italian translation of the notes is terrible.
If possible, please add the option to use an external translator such as DeepL. I have my own free API key that works perfectly on Yakihonne and would like to use it on Wisp.

How do you decide the price of a painting?
In my case, I chose a living painter whose work I really admire.
With some self-criticism, I decided that my paintings were worth about half of his.
I don’t know if that’s a truly valid parameter.
But it felt honest to me.
Then I had a simple thought:
I would let reality speak.
If I couldn’t sell any paintings, the price was probably too high for the market at that moment.
If they sold immediately, maybe I was asking too little.
If they sold from time to time, I was probably somewhere close to the right balance.
And that’s exactly what happened.
And it’s still happening.
The price of art is not an absolute truth.
It’s a slow conversation between me and the people who look at my work.
And some conversations can last for years.

If I remember correctly, Tweetdeck had it and a compatible app that was better than Twitter itself.
I took out the sound when they discontinued it because Twitter blocked anyone from using different apps and I carry it from one smartphone to another.

I think the idea is quite fragile.
Local communities already have tools that work immediately and with almost zero friction, like WhatsApp or Telegram. Asking people to adopt Nostr just to read neighborhood or school updates introduces extra complexity without a clear benefit.
Also, if the concept is that it becomes “the app you’re forced to use”, that’s usually a bad sign. Platforms grow when people want to open them, not when they feel they have to.
Another issue is that Nostr is interesting precisely because it’s an open network. Turning it into many closed community silos removes one of its main strengths. Features like zaps also make much more sense in an open ecosystem where people and content can circulate freely. In a closed community, that benefit basically disappears.

I've been invited to two interviews about my art and my experience on Nostr.
I had to say no. Both times.
Not because I didn't want to. But because I don't speak English.
I can write it. I can think in it. But speaking it — that's where I freeze.
It's frustrating to have a story worth telling and not be able to tell it out loud.

A few weeks ago I shared the beginning of this painting.
A rough start inspired by a photograph from a dear friend I met on Nostr, @nprofile…vt6e , who kindly allowed me to use it.
From there I worked mostly by removing rather than adding.
Leaving only what holds: light, trunks, a path moving through.
It’s not a portrait of a specific place.
It’s the memory of what remains when you walk long enough in silence.
