but "elegant" isnt a word I'd use personally.
the advantage of just scaling horizontally is we don't need to study the ALL the new security tradeoffs.
its just a copy with some tweaks and there are some bridges in/out..

My first thought is that " nobodty cares"
ie obv there isn't demand for this, the mempool is empty. maybe we do this after blocks are full?
oh but we HAVE to go ahead and do this because no normie will use L1 for P2P transactions because we ruined the UX with our design choices.

you don't need a hard cap to incentivize thoughtful spending.
as evidenced by millennia under a gold standard.
neither does algorithmic supply inflation cause currency debasement. it is a tax on all network users that pays for the security of the network.
as opposed to Bitcoin, which ultimately ONLY taxes people who make transactions, further disincentivizing usage as money.
so, except for small groups of idealists, Bitcoiners do not and will not spend their sats because "generational wealth."
the hard cap turns money into digital real estate.

by design, hash will always go where the value resides.

initially just the observation that Bitcoin and Monero are more similar than they are different. to say nothing of LTC or ZEC.
and although it's fun to debate the nuances of design, it's more important to emphasize what is similar.
Bitcoin is described as chains of digital signatures in timestamped PoW blocks.
everything after that is our own assumptions about what it *should be.
It's not particularly relevant that Satoshi elected on a particular design, as long as the fundamentals remain the same the specifics could be almost anything.
the only thing that makes "BTC" special is the huge hash rate and first mover advantage.
therefore,
#Bitcoin is a template and any sufficiently decentralized PoW chain should also be understood to be the same. They are different in security and features but are still Bitcoin.
