I can do inheritance in a strict-subset way (ChibiOS does this too). You just need to make sure the start of struct specific is identical to struct generic then you can call generic_method on specific_objects.

First month at $JOB I tried to make a cute little nmap script to find the drives on 192.168.1.0/24 and write a L5X for them to save half an hour manually clicky-clicky setting up tests. Turns out my nmap was tickling a RCE in the network stack (and crashed all the drives). So I went back to setting things up manually. OT is wild.

2 pins and multidrop is the big one. Otherwise I often go with plain serial. Scales to tens of Mbps, tunnels over everything. Drop RS-485 xcvrs in and you've got 100m differential in industrial environments for less than a dollar.

Any "trusted" app is a privacy nightmare. And given the spread of residential-proxy malware I'd expect that any age gate that depends on an app will promptly have a malware-backed bypass service.
