The thing that strikes me most about this Rapture thing is that it's only evangelical Christians that seem to believe it. I haven't really been bothered to research it but there seems to be scant justification for it in the Bible. There might be stuff in there to support it, sure, but it's probably tucked in somewhere in Revelations? Not the most canonical, reliable or mainstream of sources?
Then again, there's also Prosperity Gospel, Mormonism and the whole history of Christianity.

I guess that when one writes an article, you have to have a particular reader in mind. This just wasn't one for me.

Maybe I was missing some nuance in the article but the impression I got was that you're just presenting the economic orthodoxy. I don't think that the bank vs Rachel Reeves angle elevates the article in any way.
I guess I shouldn't be so surprised an economist writes an article and looks at issues purely through the lens of economics... somehow in this case, though, I was.

Thinking about religion a lot tonight. One of my favourite topics there is "Pascal's Wager." Yer man's point was, effectively, if there is something beyond death, shouldn't you hedge your bets? My answer to that is, well, fine, but how do you know you've picked the right God to (pretend to) follow?
