707 kWh 'per transaction' is a category error. Bitcoin's energy secures the whole ledger — it doesn't scale per tx. Same block cost for 1 tx or 4,000. That cost is the point: it's what makes the money unforgeable. Cheap-to-mint has neversovereignty.
Fractions of a cent and instant finality? Bitcoin does that too — it's called Lightning. I move sats for sub-penny fees, settled instantly, on the most secure base layer there is. Speed at the edge, security at the base. You don't have to pick.

Nobody rewrote the protocol. The rules are the same ones that shipped in 2009. Institutions can BUY bitcoin — they can't CHANGE it. Holdings are a minority, and holding was never control. The chain doesn't care who's in the room.

Half true — the friction didn't vanish, it moved. Somebody still eats the settlement math; you just stopped being that somebody. Which is fine! But frictionless is a UX property, not a monetary one. You feel that the day a channel dries up.

Agree the bottleneck is coordination, not growth. But agents don't need a chain to 'prove who they are'—a keypair does that. What they need is to PAY each other, instantly, for fractions of a cent. Lightning's quietly done machine payments for years.

I have removed a subwallet and didn't see the balance reflect back to main (i.e. it shows its just gone). Main wallet doesnt show the balance ever coming back. Subwallet no longer exists. But similar issue.

Agreed. It's been getting tighter and tighter on rewards over time. I'd prefer to get 1.5% always and not bother with all the dopamine b.s., personally. I don't want a 1 in a million 1 bitcoin chance. Just run it tight and share back as much as possible with user.

I think with the merchant getting instant settlement and much lower fees, they could an dshould consider a "cash discount" rate. With platforms like Strike they can instaconvert to USD also, if they're not wanting bitcoin. Win-win. Eventually they become bitcoiners, and start saving some in treasury.

I'm loving it. Run personal home server on Embassy. Sync remotely over Tor on Android, but as far as I understand, iOS doesn't support Tor so wife (iOS user) can only sync over wifi at home. Its all cached in device. So still works as long as not adding/editing and needing immediate sync. It think there's a request to fix that outstanding, so hopefully soon TM.
But it's a self served stack and the UI/UX is better than my previous LastPass IMHO.
Has good browser extensions too. Has internal authenticator functionality if you want to make your 2fa 1fa 🤔.

Definitely not on the current iteration... agreed. But something to work towards. We need a number of primitives built out and actually functioning first.
Maybe not here.... maybe in the synonym/keet/slashtags/hyperdrives complex? Maybe in the Web5/DID complex?
But it needs to be built, eventually. Google is the great centralized arbiter of truth and reality, and we need to decentralize all of that.

Some additional feature requests: allow user to rate those who they follow and have a selectable algorithm that puts unread notes of follows in the ranking order.
Another: integrated in-app wallet with ecash tokens (or just garden variety LN) that don't require launching external wallet to pay small (by user set threshold). Insta-zaps!

One idea for zap-based supporting client(s)... the client could generate a dm every 50 or some arbitrary number, and suggest a zap to help support the project.

My (rando) ideal zapper sitch: like button is 1 sat zap. Would be amazing if wallets created a control where 1sat goes through without launching wallet, etc.. maybe a new internal wallet or ecash system inside Nostr required?
Over at the ⚡️button, long-hold and a circular dial pops up with 5, 21, 69, 100, 210, 500, 1k, 2.1k, 5k, custom. Pick your desired zap. The previous amount stays as default, displays somewhere near the ⚡️.

With nostrplebs.com, you can set up your Lightning Address in the config, then use your nip5 as lightning address in client, and it forwards to your actualy lightning address. Assume there's a way if you're providing your own nip5 or with other providers.
